Chapter 1: Introduction
Have you ever been delighted by the sweet and nourishing blend of honey? Did you happen to know how and when these sweet honeys are made? If not then I will educate you then.
Honey have been in the market for so many years. And its source of production is from the honey bees. There are different kind of bees such as the bees that we only see in the garden are the bumblebees which produce a small amount of honey just to feed themselves only, unlike the honey bees they are tend to produce large amount of honey which we buy from the stores today.
The only thing that makes the bees harm is the pesticides and insecticides that we are using in our garden or elsewhere. That is the main reason why bees and other insects die. So people should reduce or even prevent using that hazardous chemical.
We have been using honey for hundreds of years now. To feed ourselves, and even beauty products. There are lot ways that we can use this product it usually depend on how we use it.
People are lucky and blessed to have this food producing animals that would suffice the sweetness of our lives. So, the only thing that we need to do is to take care of them and not abuse them so that they can continue on giving us the thing that they want to give us. They might be harmful but they are useful. Every living creature in this world is useful no matter what form it is, so we better take care of them all.
Historically, honey has been consumed by the ancient Greeks and Romans, as well as written about in Vedic and even Islamic texts because of its abundant healing properties. It is then commonly used in ayurvedic medicine and is in fact very traditional there. It is also known to efficiently balance out the body. Ancient Egyptians used honey in several medical compounds, while the ancient Greeks even believed that drinking honey could lengthen your life.
History aside, modern research has proved time and time again that honey is indeed a wonder drug, with countless medical properties that is continuously being explored up until today.
Scientifically, the properties of honey include that of fructose, glucose and minerals ranging from calcium sodium chlorine, to iron, phosphate, magnesium and potassium. Now its unique characteristic wherein it only has a slight pH acidic level is what actually makes honey a perfect antiseptic and antibacterial. By simply applying honey to wounds or burns, it automatically prevents bacteria growth and helps in faster healing.
It is said that honey is at its best when raw and organic. None of those commercial honey products provide the same health benefits as the ones provided by organic raw honey. There are about 40 different varieties of honey out there, each with their own unique taste and characteristics. But as always, the dark honey variety are the ones with cry rich antioxidant cone ten, and thus us highly recommended. By getting your honey raw, pure and organic, you can actually take the most of its goodness. Although honey can be eaten as it is, it is not a bad idea to try to use it for cooking. It lends a unique and mild sweetness to basic recipes and as for baking, it actually results to soft baked products, thanks to its high moisture content.
