Description

Developed almost entirely from Scripture, this reference guide provides a reliable chronology of events and figures from the Old Testament.
It is becoming increasingly popular among the intelligentsia to claim that treasured Bible history is nothing more than a myth. Proponents conclude that since the church is unsure of when these events transpired, perhaps they never happened in the first place. Unfortunately, this alarming trend appears to be gaining more acceptance in our seminaries and churches.
The True Bible Timeline seeks to dispel such notions by providing an accurate resource to properly date the Old Testament. The result of a five-year long project, it accurately establishes and painstakingly documents the dates of key Bible figures and events, starting with the Creation of Adam and ending at the Cross of Christ. The complete chronology for 200 Bible events is included in the appendix. Guided by His Wisdom, author R. Craig Bridgforth built this timeline through a meticulous process that allowed him to produce a trustworthy and accurate resource that will enrich studies of the Old Testament with new understanding and insight.

About the Au thor

Preface
For the past forty years, whenever I studied the Old Testament, I often wondered when Adam was created, when the Flood and the Tower of Babel occurred, when Abraham was prepared to sacrifice Isaac, when Jacob wrestled with the man at Jabbok, when Moses crossed the Red Sea, and when… so many other well-known Bible events occu rred.
It always seemed strange to me that the Church has not had a clear and accurate timeline for many of the events recorded in the Bible. Although I knew God’s Word was the ultimate source for this information, like many eager truth seekers I was forced to search my local Christian bookstores and sort through a multitude of Bible timelines that promised to offer guidance and insight but, in the end, never provided absolute dates for most of cherished Old Testament his tory.
For me, the burning desire to know when well-known Bible events took place never dissipated. To my way of thinking, it made no sense that God would give us such rich and detailed history without also giving us the means to chronologically connect these important past events to our world today. For decades, in order to navigate the murky time frames of the undated past, I had to rely on the Ussher timeline and Scofield notes provided in my King James Bible. About five years ago, I experienced what I would call a “prompting” in my spirit to determine the time frame for the events leading up to the Exodus for the benefit of my Sunday school c lass.
My feeble first attempts were enthusiastically accepted by my classmates, but I knew I had much work to do if I was ever going to produce a useful timeline. Two years after my initial “success,” I began the task of documenting the first three thousand years of Bible history. As is often the case in such efforts, one attempt led to another, and the next thing I knew, I felt compelled to reexamine the time frames for the period of the Di
