INTRODUCTION
TWO WORDS TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE

As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. Come, follow me, Jesus said.
MARK 1:16-17
F ollow me . Those two words were about to change everything for the ones who were brave enough to respond. Jesus didn t give instructions, just two words of invitation. They were the only words He spoke as He dared them to take the next step. He didn t answer any questions the disciples may have had about where they were going or why they should follow Him. He did not hand out a job brief and a benefits package to entice them to leave all they had ever known to follow a man they had just met. Follow me was the entryway to the greatest adventure they could ever dare to discover, but it was also the starting place of a lifetime of surrender. Follow me was not simply pointing to a destination; it was all about a decision. The disciples future was unknown, but their direction was certain.
In a world that seems obsessed with following, we can find ourselves confused and challenged by which direction to go. The people and trends who shout, Follow me! can drown out the significance of that decision. Our following is not incidental, it is fundamental. The voices we follow shape the choices we make. Who or what we follow shapes the life we are building. That s why following isn t just a one-time decision; it s a daily commitment. The disciples responded to the initial invitation, but like us, they then had to continue daily to act on that decision.
We can so easily forget that we are called to follow first. We are so busy with life we often take the lead and later-usually when things are not working out, or when the pressure mounts-we want to switch back the control from our way to following His ways. This devotional was written to encourage you to get back to the place where you can say yes again to the invitation to follow Jesus. Dare to follow His ways and dare to unfollow what has begun to confuse and block the way. Dare to surrender and say, as the old song so beautifully puts it: I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back.
HOW TO USE THIS DEVOTIONAL
We get it! Life can get busy, and committing to doing a daily devotional can feel overwhelming. If you miss a day, you feel bad and maybe even think about giving up. Well, friend, we are here cheering you on. We have written this devotional in a way that we know works for us in our lives, and we hope it works for you too.
This is a 100-day journey, one we pray you will find has a pace and ease to it that helps your following find a flow. We are going to dare you to follow and then give you the time to process and journal your response.
In James 1:22, we are told: Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. We want to encourage you to hear but also to then do something that will help you follow through. We have split the book up into five sections, each with 20 devotionals. On one day you ll read a few lines of challenge and encouragement from us, and on the next day you ll be invited to respond to that invitation through journaling and prayer. On your day of study, we pray that God will speak to your heart. On the day of follow-through, we pray that you will begin to take steps that will bring these words to life.
So, friend, as you are about to begin, let s pray together:

Thank You, Jesus, for leading me to this moment.
Thank You that You have made a way for me in every season.
Lord, help me as I commit to this study
to surrender what is in the way so that
You can truly have Your way.
Lord, make alive Your Word in my life.
Lord, help me not just to be a hearer of the Word but also a doer.
Lord, I commit afresh today to follow You all the days of my life.
Amen.

DARE TO FOLLOW
DAY 1
WHO S FOLLOWING WHOM?
Charlotte
When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom. After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it.
LUKE 2:42-43
C an you imagine losing Jesus? I ve lost my car keys and a wallet, and that caused enough panic. But imagine that you suddenly realized you had lost the Savior of the world. That s what happened to Mary and Joseph.
They had been to the Passover with all their family, as they did every year. Only on this occasion, something shifted. When it came time to head home, Jesus knew it was His time to stop following everyone else s lead. It was His turn to follow that course His Father had predestined for Him. Jesus knew He didn t need to follow Mary and Joseph to their house; He needed to be the one who was found in the Father s house. Mary and Joseph assumed Jesus was following them, but in fact, the time had come for them to start following Him.
We can get so used to being in control, to being the one to plan the trip or get the group together. Our ability to get it done can mean we actually prefer to dominate so we get the outcome we want. However, for real growth to happen, we have to discern when it is tim
