Football fans will remember the penetrating gaze of the eyes beneath the helmet of the Chicago Bears #55 throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s. NFL legend Mike Singletary's skills and determination as a linebacker were second to none. Now readers can meet the man of faith behind those amazing tackles. Together with bestselling author Jay Carty, Mike Singletary lets you in behind the scenes of a career in which the term "Christian football player" seems like an oxymoron. Prepare yourself to learn life lessons from an athlete and man who, in the midst of a competitive contact sport, gave his all to the glory of God. In these sixty heartfelt devotions, Mike and Jay will inspire and challenge you to draw nearer to God while giving your all, no matter where your "playing field" is.

I fully agree with Mike Singletary’s writings. Mike talks the talk and walks the walk. I have always believed in Mike Singletary. His life is his witness, and this book spells it out.

Mike Singletary says that one thing he learned from me was to never say die. He learned well. On the field, there was never a fiercer competitor. But the thing about Mike is that he never says die about anything in life, particularly when it comes to the principles by which he lives. For years, everyone saw how great Mike was at football. In this book, you will get a glimpse of the rock-solid character that those of us close to Mike have long appreciated.

Before we can sell anyone on the integrity of God’s Word, we have to sell them on the integrity of our word. Mike Singletary has done this by how he played football, how he has lived his life off the field and how he now leads others. When you have finished reading this book, you will know what makes Mike a man with character and integrity, and you will have gained new insights into how to become the person of integrity that you want to be.

More important than having been one of the greatest football players of our time, Mike Singletary is a man of high integrity, whose character is an example to all.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been blessed to have Mike Singletary as a Christian ambassador to the world of sports. He is the ultimate servant-leader, on and off the field of competition. As an NFL coach and as a Hall of Fame linebacker, he truly models Jesus, mentors others and manages his life according to God’s principles. His passion and intensity for the game of football is only surpassed by his love for Jesus and his family. His spiritual insights will inspire and impact your life profoundly.

In addition to teaching techniques and the fundamentals of the game, coaches and teachers should strive to be the kind of example that students look up to and desire to emulate. Mike Singletary has modeled a strategy that can be used both on and off the field. His new book, Mike Singletary One on One , is not only inspirational but also instructional to the point that the contents can be used as a game plan for one’s life. Coauthor Jay Carty unfolds the biblical principles that will apply to everyday challenges. As you read Mike’s book of 60 stories from his life, listen to what is being taught, ask yourself questions and then take Mike’s advice.

Roll a highlights video of classic moments in the NFL and we will see: Dick Butkus snarling, covered in mud and blood, tape hanging from his wrist. Bart Starr plunging into the end zone for a quarterback sneak on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field. The 49ers’ Dwight Clark coming out of nowhere to grab “The Catch” from Joe Montana. Mike Singletary’s stare.
Mona Lisa had her smile. Mike has his eyes. Peering out from his helmet, his gaze pierced like a laser beam. The intensity showed, but number 50’s eyes on television and on the cover of Sports Illustrated didn’t do him justice. I first saw Mike’s eyes in real life when I met the NFL Hall-of-Fame linebacker at a Pro Athletes Outreach conference. The shake of
