The great author, Mark Twain, famously said: “Giving up smoking is easy…I’ve done it hundreds of times.” This witty line speaks to an important truth: breaking “bad habits” is not easy—especially when that habit is so deeply entrenched, so powerful and pervasive, that we label it as an addiction. Twain also said, “Habit is habit and not to be flung out of the window by any man, but coaxed downstairs a step at a time.” And that is precisely what the authors of this book will help you to do, using the science- based approach of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
