The primary objective of What on Earth is a Ruling Party in a RULING PARTY IN A
Multiparty Democracy? is to provoke thought and thereby stimulate
debate. To this end, provocatively, this collection of topical issues MULTIPARTY DEMOCRACY?
ranges from ‘The place of the miniskirt in sociocultural development’
to ‘Which citizen in Zambia should not take part in (partisan)
politics?’
It is the ardent hope of the author that the musings and
ruminations that are contained in the present collection of essays will
provide the reader with a bounty of food for thought and a range of
issues for healthy debate.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
The Author, Mubanga E Kashoki, is a Professor of African
Languages at the institute of Economic and Social Research in the
University of Zambia. Previous publications in his field of
specialization, Sociolinguistics, include The Factor of Language in
Zambia (1990), Loanwords in Silozi, Cinyanja and Chitonga (1999)
and Keeping in Step with Modern Times: a Comprehensive Account of
Lexical Adoptives in IciBemba (2009). Outside his area of
specialization, published works worthy of note include ‘The Foreign
researcher: Friend or Foe?’ and ‘Harnessing Africa’s cultural
heritage for human progress’. Currently, Why Wrangle, My
Children?, a political poem dealing with the debatable issue of
‘tribalism’, is in press.
