Introduction
For the first time in his life, Yannick could not do anything, could not change anything. For the first time, he had to lower the arms and accept the dirty blow he had just received. So far, his life had been quite good. Born out of a modest family, he grew up in Val-D’or, Abitibi, a town located in the north side of the province of Quebec, in Canada. Overall, he had a happy youth. His parents were far from rich but were always able to offer him a safe life, filled with comfort and love. In fact, the only reproach he had against his parents is that he was an only child. He would have liked to share what he knew as his happiness with a brother or a sister. But, how could he be upset with his mother who became infertile after his birth. The poor woman suffered atrociously while giving birth to him. At time of birth, the child weighed almost four and a half kilo. He was too big to come out the regular way. To prevent a tragedy, the doctors freed the child through a caesarean. Yannick was alive and healthy but his mother suffered a long time before returning to normal. Following this episode and after trying many times, Yannick’s mother never gave birth again.
Even though, he had to grow up as an only child, Yannick could not complain. His childhood may have been somewhat lonely, but as he sometime figured, the fact that he did not have a brother or sister may also have been a good thing. He was only seventeen when his father, who worked as a miner, for many years, died at the age of forty five years old following the pains and tribulations of a lung cancer. In his will, Mr. Simard left thirty five thousand dollars to his family. After many years of loyal services to the mine that was the cause of his disease, that is all he managed to save. It was out of question that Yannick would have the same future. His mother, Jeannine, had promised herself that her son would have a different career. But opportunities of employment were few in Abitibi. To live a decent life, a man had to work at the mine; unless, of course, he won the lottery. After considering most possibilities, Jeannine decided to invest all the money she had inherited in the education of her son, a decision she could not have taken if she had the responsibility of more children. So, Yannick had the opportunity to receive advanced studies in administration at the local college and to pursue his education in finance and economy at Montreal University. The day he left Val-D’or for the big city, he had no idea that he would return for his mother’s funeral less than four years after his father had died. No one could tell the cause of her death. Some claimed she died of loneliness. Surely because her husband had left her for a better world and her son was away, she had no reason to remain alive. At the time of her death, she was skin and bone. Her face showed the years that she had left behind. She was only forty eight but at the time of her death, she seemed much older. Yannick had many difficulties to adapt to this loss. He was now alone in the world. After the funeral, he cried like a child. A week later, he sold all his parent’s possessions. He returned to Montreal and never came back to Abitibi. Now without a father or a mother, he had to turn the page and build his own life. And, it was quite a good life… at least, until this miserable day when emotions and feelings of the worst kind invaded his heart. He was hurt to the point of becoming a diabolic avenger of the worst kind.
Upon his return to Montreal, he studied with heart and soul. On top of his regular courses, he studied salesmanship, marketing and motivation... All that he would need to become one of the greatest stock brokers of all time; the KING as he liked to say. All that he did, while he was not buried in his many hours at the university, he researched the marvellous world of finance. He only read about finance, only saw movies touching this subject and spent time with people that shared his passion. He only had one hope and desire: to become rich, really rich. He wanted to earn money to the point that he would not know what to do with it. To reach his goal, he was ready to commit to anything. Among his friends, only one person shared his high hopes. His name was Jim; Jim Desnoyers. The first time they met at the University, they understood each other. As time went on, they shared everything: Studies, recreations, even an apartment. Jim was not only a friend and a future associate; he became a brother in law. Both of these guys did not have much talent to transfer their thoughts, ideas or school works on a computer. That’s why they hired Marilyne, Jim’s young sister, for a small salary. This lady was a talented young pianist with a great future ahead of her. She could definitively use the few dollars she was earning from Yannick and Jim, but she also liked to be close to her brother’s associate. She thought he was quite cute. She also thought he was nice and sweet. Throughout the years, she became very attached to her young boss and left her own ambition behind. It took time but eventually, he revealed to her that he shared her feelings. The day Yannick told her how he felt about her became the most beautiful day of her short life. That day, he visited her to pick up some work she had done for him. On this rare occasion, because they were normally always together, Jim was not with him. When she gave him the documents he wanted, he casually invited her to have lunch with him in a nearby restaurant. Of course, Marilyne was not about to refuse the invitation she had been waiting for more than two years. In that period of his life, Yannick was not financially comfortable, so, their first rendezvous and meal together was at a McDonald restaurant. The conversation with her charming prince was pleasant, amusing and stimulating. Without even realizing it, Marilyne kept ordering coffee after coffee in order to extend the pleasure she had to be with him. It took a while, but when he ultimately told her what she wanted to hear, it was a dream.
"You know, Marilyne," he said with hesitation, "I spent a wonderful afternoon with you, so… well… hum… I would like… if you want… I would like for us to go out together again. If you want; that is…"
"Of course I want!" she answered with great excitement. "Oh! Yannick… What took you so long?"

That night, in front of her door, they exchanged their very first kiss. The first of millions of others kisses that would feed this great love story. From then on, she became his full time lover and associate. In the future, all she would do and think was related to Yannick. She would never regret it; never.
After four years of hard work and study at the University which had filled a large part of their young respective lives, Yannick and Jim were ready to face the world of finance. They dared to enter through the golden doors. Because they were both leaders of their class, they received offers from the major companies. Most people would have sold their services and accept the best offers, but, not them. They both rejected all the offers, from the lesser to the best. Without hesitation and without considering the advices of Carl Desnoyers, Marilyne and Jim’s father, who recommended they accept the best offer they had received in order to accumulate some experience before facing the market on their own.
"We will not work for others!" would say the young men. "We are ready and as they say: the proof of the pudding is in the eating. We are ready! From the time we started at the University, we wanted to operate our own business. We never thought of anything else and this is what we are going to do and that is it!
"But where will the funds to start your business will come from?" would ask Carl. "You will need some investors…"
"Well," answered Jim, now that you ask it…"
"I see," sighed Carl. "I should have known that was coming… How much do you need?"
"Hum… Just about one hundred thousand dollars," mumbled Jim.
"You know very well that I don’t have that kind of money," riposted his father.
"I know," replied Jim. "But how much could you invest?"
"Take into consideration that we are not asking for charity but for an investment," added Yannick. "Believe me… It would be profitable investment, for you!"
"I don’t know," hesitated Carl. You are so young…"
"We are young, but we are brilliant!" said Yannick, "truly brilliant!"
"And without money!" replied Carl.
"Only for the time being…" interjecte
