INTRODUCTION

T ime is the scarcest resources in the world. It is what we want most and misuse most. It is one of the things every individual have in common just like air. It is a precious gift from a timeless God. At birth God gives us the gift of time. Time to become saints or sinners, time to be useful or useless, time to be rich or poor, time to be hero or hooligan. The successful and the failures have equal time and opportunity.
Theoretically, time has no perfect definition but it could be practically defined as the period available to us to perform our daily activities. Time is a measure in which events can be ordered, from the past through the present into the future. It is the measure of duration of events and the intervals between them. Without time, the past and the future which are linked by the present may sound obscure. There would have been no continuum, just a chain of endless now. Peter F Drucker has it that: everything requires time . It is the only truly universal condition. All work takes place in time and uses up time. Yet most people take for granted this unique irreplaceable and necessary resource.
People often complain about time. There is no time to accomplish that task , assuming I was given just little time, I would have completed it. They say. This book will teach you the principles of time management. It will enlighten you on the best way to maximize your time. It is true that time waits for no one, hence it seems as though time flies. However you have to be in charge of it; you have to make good use of any slightest time you have, no matter how small it may be. Take care of seconds, then hours and days will take care of themselves.
Time is the only thing common to students, both the successful ones and failures. If you master and apply the principles of time management that this book unveils, you will become a master in your chosen field. But if you fail to understand and adhere to these principles, you will fall victim of experiencing incessant failure in life. Time is Life. If you waste time, you waste life. When you do irrelevant things with the time you are meant to be doing important things which will develop your life, you waste life. Time once lost can never be regained.
It takes time to succeed because success is merely the natural reward of taking time to do something well . Joseph Ross
Time waits for no one, it flies as they say, but the good news is that you are the pilot. You direct it the way you want it to go. Our greatest challenge in life is not time but its proper and effectual usage. Everything on earth is done within a time range. You either use your time for something good or something bad. You either manage your time very well or waste it. Effective time management makes you great. The key difference between your achievements and that of others is effective time management. We waste most of our time doing unnecessary things that do not contribute to our life. The funny part is that we enjoy doing these irrelevant things and spend more time on them. Time is not just valuable; it s invaluable. It is difficult, if not impossible, for one to become exceptional in one s choice of career when one has not discovered and utilized the principles of time management. An average human waste a lot of time on things that do not matter and they don t even know it, I am also a victim. We waste most of our time on frivolous discussions, movies, sleeping, social networks, games etc. If the time spent on the above, which contributes little or nothing to our life is used in doing important things, we will excel in life. The American world s youngest drummer, Julian Pavone, is reported to have set aside SIX HOURS for rehearsal every day. Josh Kaufman has rightly averred that anyone who devotes Twenty Hours to do a particular thing will end up being good at it. Many at times, the degree of effectiveness is directly proportional to time allotted on an exercise.
Time is a natural element and the totality of one s life is summed by what one makes out of it. Being shrewd or careless with time is all but a matter of choice. A fool wastes money but fool that wastes time is worse. Every lost second, minute, hour, day, and year is lost forever. Success goes with life and for every time lost, success is wasted. Suffice it to say that success cannot be achieved without a successful use of the maxims of time management. Every time you waste is an injury to eternity.
