DAILY PRESS BRIEFING BY THE MINISTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH
COVID-19 Pandemic Management

Welcome atthe conference room of the Public Health Emergency Operation Center for our daily press briefing.
On behalf of the Minister of Public Health, Dr. MANAOUDA Malachie, I would like to present the situation of
COVID19 pandemic in our country on 02 April 2020.
The number of COVID-19 confirmed cases as well as the number of deaths is drastically increasing throughout the
world.
As regards the situation in our country, the result to date indicates sixty (60)new cases bringing up the total number
to three hundred and six (306) COVID-19 confirmed cases. It should be noted that the detection of these cases is
increasing due to the reliability of our tracing system and the active search for cases within our communities.
We are pleased to note that about a dozen cases have been recovered. Unfortunately, eight (08) deaths have been
recorded. Based on the prevailing situation of the disease, we call on the population to remain vigilant and act
responsively while observing the measures enacted by the Government, among which:

- Washing hands with clean running water and soap or use an alcohol-based solution;
- Covering your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue when coughing, sneezing or using a bent elbow;
- Avoiding close contact with anyone with flu symptoms;
- Maintain social distancing of at least one point five (1.5) meters;
- Above all, stay at home as much as you can.

The population is becoming more committed and aware of the disease, as we have received two thousands five
hundred and eighty-seven (2587) calls today.
With regard to patient management and case follow-up, the resettlement of COVID-19 cases at the Olembe site is
effective.
Concerning the awareness and testing campaign announced during our previous press briefings, it will be carried out
in the next few days in the Littoral region, in collaboration with all stakeholders.
This is the opportunity to clarify the role of the governors, who are responsible for the response in the regions with the
support of the local authorities, especially in community participation.
I would like to reassure populations that we will work hard to stop COVID-19 disease.
We call on the population not to stigmatize the victims and all those involved in the fight against COVID-19 disease.
This stigmatization affects their health and well-being.

La gestion de la pandémie au COVID-19

Bienvenue dans cette salle de conférence du Centre National des Opérations des Urgences de Santé publique pour
notre point de presse quotidien. Nous prenons la parole ce soir avec l’onction de Monsieur le Ministre de la Santé
Publique, Dr Manaouda Malachie pour présenter la situation de la pandémie du COVID-19 à la date du 02 avril 2020
dans notre pays. Le nombre de cas confirmés de COVID-19 augmente drastiquement dans le monde entier ainsi que
le nombre de décès. Pour ce qui concerne la situation dans notre pays, le décompte des cas positifs à date est de
306. Soit 60 nouveaux cas. Il est à noter que la détection de ces cas, pour le moins croissant, est à mettre à l’actif de
la fiabilité de notre dispositif de tracking et de recherche active des cas au sein de nos communautés. Nous nous
réjouissons de la guérison d'une dizaine de cas. Malheureusement, nous enregistrons 08 décès. Eu égard à la
situation de plus en plus préoccupante de cette maladie, c’est le lieu d’inviter une fois encore les populations à plus
de responsabilité, de vigilance, et à respecter les mesures barrières édictéespar le Gouvernement, à savoir :
- se laver les mains avec de l’eau propre coulante et du savon ou utiliser une solution hydro- alcoolique ;

- se couvrir le nez et la bouche avec un mouchoir lorsqu’on tousse, éternue ou utiliser le pli du coude ;

- éviter tout contact étroit avec toute personne présentant des symptômes de la grippe ;
- respecter la distanciation sociale d’au moins 1,5 mètre,

et autant que faire se peut, restez chez vous. Notre call center ne cesse d’être sollicité pour les renseignements
ainsi que les alertes ; 2587 appels ont été enregistrés ce jour. S’agissant de la prise en charge des patients et du
suivi des cas, le recasement des patients sur le site d’Olembé est effectif depuis plusieurs jours. Concernant la
campagne de sensibilisation et de « testing » annoncée au cours de nos prises de paroles antérieures, elle
s'effectuera dans les tout prochains jours dans la région du Littoral, en collaboration avec l’ensemble des parties
prenantes. C'est le lieu de préciser le rôle des gouverneurs, qui sont les responsables de la riposte au niveau des
régions. Ils bénéficient de l’appui des autorités locales, notamment pour ce qui est de la participation communautaire.
Je voudrais rassurer la population que nous ne ménagerons aucun effort pour barrer la route à la maladie à
Covid19.
