Resumen
El presente artículo trata sobre las relaciones entre los matemáticos y el arte, entre la matemática y el arte, teniendo en cuenta también el uso de las tecnologías informáticas tanto en el arte como en la ciencia. A lo largo del texto se dibuja el punto de vista de los matemáticos sobre la creatividad, sobre la matemática como actividad creativa y su relación con el arte. Posteriormente se despliega el punto de vista de algunos artistas e historiadores sobre la relación entre la matemática y el arte. En especial, se consideran algunos ejemplos, como el del grabador holandés M. C. Escher y el del artista suizo Max Bill. A continuación se estudia el fenómeno nuevo de la creación por parte de los matemáticos de nuevas formas ?visuales? utilizando el grafismo electrónico y cómo estas formas, a su vez, han influido en los artistas. Finalmente se traza una breve conclusión en la que se reflexiona sobre las nuevas imágenes matemáticas y artísticas.
Abstract
This article deals with the relationships between mathematicians and art and between mathematics and art, whilst also taking into account the use of information technology, both in art and science. This article is written in terms of mathematicians? perspective on creativity, on mathematics as a creative activity and its relationship with art. It then employs the point of view of a number of artists and historians on the relationship between mathematics and art. It examines some examples in particular, such as the Dutch engraver M. C. Escher and the Swiss artist Max Bill. It goes on to study the new phenomenon of the creation of new ?visual? forms by mathematicians using computer graphics, and how, in turn, these forms have influenced artists. Finally, there is a brief conclusion reflecting on the new mathematical and artistic images.
