List management becomes very important with any painting that contains more th than five floaters. Almost everyone can remember 5 things but add a 6 and loss of time begins to mount up when we select the wrong floater to work on. Do this 15 or 20 times and you can see how it would be easy to lose and hour of valuable production time on any large project. I try to make it easy for myself by naming all floaters or layers. When I do this I also developed the habit of pressingCtrl +Sto save my work. At first it wasn’t easy because I was so caught up in my painting. After losing a few major elements due to system crashes this procedure began in earnest. Go to theBrushes(8) palette. Select theImage Hose Brush. Click on Nozzle/Nozzles…or pressCtrl + 9(8a). Click Open(11) dialog box appears. Go to your CD drive or to the drive you copied theUnd_water.NZLfile to. Select it and clickOpento load the file.
In theBrush Controls:Nozzlepalette (12) click on the icon next to the bigXin the upper right corner to Maximize it. Set theRank 1slider toRandom. Select theDeep.RIFnozzle. In theArt Materialspalette (13) click on theSecondary ColorIn theicon and chose a light Blue color. Controls:Brushpalette (14) set theGrainslider to50%.
Paint in a row of water at a slight diagonal. Change theGrainslider to40%and paint in some more strokes. Change theGrainslider to25%and paint the rest. If you see blatant areas that look funny adjust the grain slider between25%and 40%, and add more water to cover that area. It is difficult to say use this or that setting because it is impossible for each of us to add paint in exactly the same way. You should have something that looks similar to this (15). I have included a Surfacefloater in theObjects:Floaterpalette
Using theRectangularSelectiontool make a selection from the bottom of the Surface floater to the bottom of the painting background. Turn this into a floater and name itDepththe “. Press D’ Key to access theDroppertool or click on the icon in theToolspalette (16).
