KidPix1. Before you start you need to create a folder where you will save all of your pictures (slides) you create and the slide show.2. Create all of the pictures (slides) first. Start by opening the Kid Pix program. Choose Kid Pix Paint a picture.3. This first picture we will create will be the title of the slide show.4. Think about how you want your background to look. You can use
the paint can and dump a plain color or a pattern. 1. Click on the paint can in your tool box. The paint can options will appear below you page. Take this time to scroll through all your different choices using the little blue triangles at the end of the bar.
2. Click on your choice. Only the first set of patterns are influenced by the color
picker. The last box on the first set of patterns has a ?. I will dump rainbow strips
on your page.
3. Try out your choice. If you don’t like it immediately go to your tool box and
choose the undo guy.
Save this picture
He will take away the last thing you did.
1. Go up to the top menu, click one time onFile,
drag down toSave a Picture...
Make sure you are saving the picture in
the folder you created for this slide show.
It would be a good idea to simply call this pictureTitle. That makes it easier to recognize when you are ready to put your pictures in the slide show.

Creating a Picture using graphics not in the KidPix program.
We will use this process to bring in the photos of the artifacts, rocks and minerals from the Illinois State Museum web site.
1. Go up to the top menu, click onFile, drag down
toNewto get a new blank page.
2. Go up to the top menu again, click onFile,
drag down toImport a Graphic...
Choose the graphic you want and leave the information under the preview the way it is. We want to manipulate this graphic when we get it in.
If you wanted the graphic to fill the whole picture then you would choose one of the top three choices.
3. The graphic appears in the center of your page with blue balls (handles) on the corners.
4. Put your mouse on one of the blue balls and change the size of your graphic. the middle of the picture
5. Put the mouse in the middle of the graphic, wait
until your pointer changes to a hand, click and hold,
then drag the graphic where you want it.

Oops! I clicked away from the graphic and it doesn’t have the
blue balls (handles) around it anymore.
1. Look in your tool box for the truck tool. Click one time one it.
2. Choose the rectangle that fits your graphic the best. Put the rectangle around
your graphic click and hold the mouse, drag your graphic into position.
You may need to choose one with the magnet, you create the box (circle) that fits around your graphic. Once you create the box, put your mouse inside the box (it changes to look like a magnet), click and hold the mouse then drag the graphic into position.
Put a title for this graphic in one text box using your typewriter. Create another
text box to but in your information about this artifact. Save this slide. You can
give it the name of the artifact or simply Slide 1.
Create your other slides and save them.
Now you are ready to create your slide show.

KidPix Slide Show
1. Open the KidPix program, choose SlideShow.
You will see a series of trucks numbered 1 to 99.
The dog looks at you when you have selected that truck.
2. Let’s put all the slides in first. Below the blank truck bed you will find this picture. Click on it one time. You will then need to locate your first picture (Title) and select it. Notice that the picture shows up on the truck bed. Do this on each truck until you have all of your pictures placed in trucks.
3. Save your slide show. Make sure you save it in the same folder as all the pictures you created earlier.
4. The next box under the truck bed looks like this.. We use this to add sound to this slide. You may have noticed that the note is already colored in and ABCD is written in the gray bar below it. This means that the computer will use a computer voice to read what you have typed. Choosing another sound will eliminate this. You can add sound effects or record voice (up to 30 seconds). Click on the note one time.
5. Click on one of the available
sounds, then click on thePreview
button. Once you have found the
sound you want, click on the
Selectbutton. Make sure you
have the KidPix CD in if you plan
on clicking on theMorebutton.

6. To record voice, click on the microphone button.
This is what you will see next. Click on theRecordbutton, say what you have rehearsed, click on theStopbutton. Click on thePlaybutton to hear what you recorded and decide to keep it or redo it.
7. When you are satisfied, click
on theSavebutton.
8. This will return you to the window you saw in step five on page 5. Click on the
Selectbutton.
9. Complete adding sound or eliminating sound
10. The final choice to make it your transitions. Click one time on the transition button.
11. Take time to explore the transitions. Click on one, click on thePreviewbutton and decide what you want. Once you have the one you like, click on theSelectbutton.
12. Repeat this for each truck.

13. Save your slide show. Let’s play the show. Below all the trucks you will see the set of buttons.

Adding Stamps to your Picture If you want to add stamps from the program to your pictures here are a few hints.
1. Click on the stamp button
up at the bottom of your page.

3. There are several more sets of stamps. Go up to the top menu, click on Goodies, drag down toPick a Stamp Set...
4. A window will appear with choices of stamps sets.
5. Scroll through the sets to find one that looks like it would go with what you are doing.
6. Click on that set and then on theOKbutton.
7. Your new set will appear at the bottom and you can go through the rows of stamps for that set.
8. Click on the stamp you want to use. Your cursor will change to look like the
stamp. Click the stamp down where you want it to go.

4 Sizes of Stamps
1. The first size of your stamp it the smallest size you can have. This is the original stamp.
2. Hold down on yourOptionkey on your keyboard, move your stamp into position
and stamp. This is your 2nd size.
3. Hold down on yourShiftkey on your keyboard, move your stamp into position
and stamp. This is your 3rd size.
4. Hold down on yourOptionandShift
stamp. This is your 4th and final size.
