78Acknowledgements
I would like to thank my parents Elli Theodoridou und Nikolaos Theo-
doridis for the continuous financial and psychological support, as well
as for the faith they showed in me during my studies. Also my grand-
parents Sofia Petropouliadou, Kuar Theodoridou, Petros Petropouliadis,
and Anastasios Theodoridis who loved me probably more than they
loved themselves. Without the support of my family, I would have never
accomplished to get my PhD.
I would also like to acknowledge Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Rudi van Eldik
for giving me the chance to work in his research group and for supervis-
ing this work. The discussions with him and his suggestions, as well as
the corrections on the text of the dissertation have been very helpful.
This work would have never been prepared under a different supervisor.
I am also grateful to my girlfriend, Angelika Reindl. Her support during
my PhD was irreplaceable.
Finally, I would like to thank the whole van Eldik group for the nice at-
mosphere and their support. It is always nice and important to know
that someone can count on his colleagues. This was the feeling that
people in this group gave to me. I hope I have also helped and sup-
ported them the same way they did.
