Description

Some wanted to go home, said the war is over. They wanted to look after their families. Food and money is all but gone in these parts. The higher ups want to stay and set up a camp ground. Start looting homes and farms. So we did. On the first one half the men called it off after some of the guys tied up a family. They were going to rape some of the women. I killed three of my brothers. Everyone is dead. I freed the family and started walking the way the sun sets. That was fifteen days ago. No food. Only rain water.

Introduction by A. G. Harrison

Introduction

From the time human felt the necessity to communicate, he realized the value of the written word and wrote by drawing on cave walls, clay tablets, stones, papyrus, parchment, paper, and today, with the development of technology, he has created e-books.

The object "book" is classified in industrial products, but at the same time it is a cultural good. Personally, I emphasize both of its dimensions, but mainly in its cultural dimension. I consider the book to be the most important expression of culture because quite simply, in addition to being the same work of art, it supports all other expressions of culture.

As an industrial product, through the many stages of its creation and before it reaches the hands of the reader, it financially supports a wide range of professions, such as writers, philologists, translators, designers, publishers, paper merchants, printing houses, bookbinders, distributors and, finally, bookstores… Let us not forget, of course, that today it also greatly supports the huge online market industry.

The governments of many countries, studying and delving into the economic benefits of the book, have invested and supported this industry in various ways, which flourished and offered them great financial gains.

Starting with the Sumerians, Babylonians and other peoples of Mesopotamia, who wrote on clay tablets, Egyptians and Romans, who wrote on papyrus, the Jews on parchment, the evolution with handwritten books images in the Middle Ages in Europe, the creation of the first wooden typographic elements and paper by the Chinese, who printed the first books, the discovery of metallic elements by the German Johannes Gutenberg during the Renaissance and the really rapid development of printing in 1450 until 1456 and, finally, during the 19th-20th century the Industrial Revolution, which makes the production of the book flourish are some examples of the value of the written word.

The agony and effort of all these civilized societies, over time, in various parts of the world, teaches us that the book is an integral part of human existence.

Throughout this course the book records and transports from the depths of the centuries ancient civilizations, which teach us about the mistakes that we can avoid or imitate the achievements of our ancestors and adopt timeless principles and values, supplies for survival. but also the evolution of the human species.

By reading a book, we have the opportunity to create with our imagination the heroes of history, landscapes, various objects, etc. In the pages of a book, the author, in addition to his study, research, experiences, also expresses his feelings. He makes us members of his own world and gives us the opportunity to learn.

It helps us to acquire knowledge but also to enrich our vocabulary, improving our own writing.

It contributes to our mental alertness, increases the ability to focus, improves our memory, helps to develop our analytical mental abilities, entertains us, calms us down and helps reduce stress.

Of course, apart from the importance of touch and contact with a hot material, reading a quality book contributes significantly and decisively to our self-education, the cultivation of critical thinking, the upgrading of our aesthetics and consequently contributes to our quality of life.

It conveys art, informs, cultivates the spirit and the soul, elevates intelligence, finds solutions to problems, conveys messages, circulates ideas, forms consciences.

I hope my books convey a message of personal experiences and you could find segments of your own truth as well.

Thank you in advance for being here and being ready to start reading.
Beginning

“Jill, we’ll be back in two hours. Help yourself, look around. Eat some eggs.” Hunter said as a younger women walked in from the back.

“Jill this is my daughter. Alex meet Jill.”

“Hello, are you pregnant!?” Alex asked smiling and rubbing Jill’s belly.

“Yeahhh.” Jill said like she was with bunch of her friend talking girl talk.

“Come on, I’ll show what he have.” Alex said taking Jill hand.

“Hold it! There are a lot of retreating Confederates in these parts. Do you know what to do?” Hunter asked as she walked away taking Jill with her.

“Yes. Hide Jill in the back closet and give them all the food we have and some money. Then offer them a room at Mindy’s.” Alex said diving into the clothes.

“Let’s go boys!” Hunter said nodding George and Charlie out of the store and pulling the door closed and locking it.

“Is Jill going to be ok?” Charlie asked not sure whether he should go or stay.

“She’ll be fine. The back closet is set up like a dungeon. They’ll think she is Alex slave, she be fine.” Hunter said.

“He is right. No one will hurt a slave belonging to someone.” George said shaking his head not believing what has become the truth. “So Jill is really on your ass.”

“Oh yeah. She said it hormones, but I think different.” Charlie said lifting up his wounded arm.

“Why happened there big buddy?” Hunter asked.

“She got him with the old morphine to the arm gag.” George said smiling and patting Charlies back.

“Oh yes! The famous morphine to the arm trick. Wasn’t that invented by your wife George?” Hunter asked patting his back.

“Yes, yes it was. Back in 35 I believe.” George said remembering the pain.

“What did you do sir?” Charlie asked looking down like he was part of a team.

“Stuck my foot in my mouth.” George said looking dazed.

“What did you say?” Charlie asked not feeling as bad as he did two minutes ago.

“Well first let me start from the beginning. I was laying low and staying away from her because of what happened the night before.” George started to say.

“What happened the night before?” Charlie asked wanting the whole story.

“Well I am glad you asked. She gets done reading one of my books, I think it was Why Would I Get Married When Your Father Hates Me, and I ask her what she thinks of it. I was thinking she was going to say it was great, but I would have been happy with a simple, it was good. And I might have even let a, it’s was ok, slid by. But no, she comes right out and says, it sucked!” George said shaking his head.

“So what did you do!?” Charlie asked.

“Nothing, yet. She saw I was getting pissed and she said, you have to learn to take criticism if you want to make it in this world.” George said looking at Charlie in shock.

“So I hold in my thoughts. Try to let it go, but she kept digging in. I think it was her time of the month. She kept talking and talking and I lost track of what she was saying. Finally she asks me, are you even listening to me? I say yeah, I am listening! Then she asks, what did I just say? I say, I have to learn to take criticism and I roll my eyes. Then she really got pissed, she grabbed me by my face and said in a scary voice, “And if you keep writing crap like this, you better get real good at taking criticism buddy!” George said looking at Charlie and Hunter with wide eyes.

“So then she let go of my face and starts walking away. Now this is where is should have kept my mouth shut, but I didn’t.”

“What did you say?” Charlie asked helping to push the story along.

“I said, Oh yeah! Well the dinner you made last night, fucking tasted like shit!” George said smiling with pride at Charlie.

“Then what happened?” Charlie asked knowing the story just started to get good.

“Well first she started pushing, then punching! Then grabbing and kicking! Oh she was a fighter! So I start back peddling and thinking about what my father always told me, don’t ever hit a girl if they can fuck you up! I mean you have to know you can beat a girls ass before taking a swing. So I start running away. She gave chase and caught up with me a second later. I tripped to the ground and she jumped on top of me tickling me. I was laughing so hard and she would stop. I finally built up enough air in my lungs to say just a few words. I knew I had to say something harsh to get her off of me or I was going to die! So I called her a bitch.” George said looking down and shaking his head.

“Whoa! Then what happened?” Charlie asked.

“She got off of me and went into the house. I thought it was over so I went to make a joke out of it. Which you should never do!” George said pointing up at Charlie.

“What should you have done?” Charlie asked making mental notes.

“I should have stayed at Hunters until the craziness in her head died down.” George said waving his finger around the side of his head.

“If Jill ever gets crazy you come on over buddy!” Hunter said with concern in his face.

“Yeah, you run over, fast!” George said.

“I will!” Charlie said taking the lifesaving advice. “So what was the joke you tried to pull off?”

“Oh, well I grabbed my axe and started to walk to the famous tree we fought over for twenty years. Well man did she flip! She comes barging out of the house charging at me like a madman. Well I freeze. I throw down the axe, but before I could say it was just a goof, she planted the morphine needle in my arm and I yell out, mother fucker! We had sex later that night.” George said with a smile.

“So…am I going to have sex later too?” Charlie asked.

“No! You’re not. No way. See my wife wasn’t knocked up like Jill. So she was just women crazy. Right Hunter?” George said.

“That’s right! When women are pregnant, they became more crazy. A lot more fucking crazy. I have kids, trust me, save your life and obey your wife.” Hunter said looking at Charlie like it was life and death.

“I will.” Charlie said thin
