For me, the supporters of Chelsea are very important. Without you, the players, staff and myself as manager would not be here. I am a newcomer to this club and I came at a new time. After one hundred years, Chelsea is at a different stage with a new way of thinking.
I know that you waited fifty years to win the title before I came, and because of this I know you are very loyal. To you, Chelsea Football Club is a special thing. Over the years, Chelsea have had many great players and managers. I am pleased that Damien Duff, Frank Lampard and John Terry are in the supporters’ Dream Team of the first century of this club.
This now means that both the rest of my team and I have to live up to the status of the many legends who have been at Stamford Bridge before us and then, maybe, in another hundred years our names too will be included.
