Sample Book Insights:
#1 I’m currently going through another expired relationship. I’ve learned that the only thing instant in life is our reactions, and I’m no longer interested in mine. I want to be Mr. Steel Cut Oats. I’ve humanized the therapist, used the Internet as a therapeutic tool, and taught life coaches a different way into growth.
#2 I grew up in a family that only discussed numbers around the dinner table. I had no emotional cushion or modeling. I lived underneath a sense of panic created by my parents’ fears of not living The American Dream.
#3 We must start with how we feel if we want to grow and live at our potential. We must start expressing our state, instead of trying to fix other people’s feelings.
#4 If you don’t allow yourself to feel, you’ll never be able to experience growth. If you don’t allow your feelings to be expressed and validated, your new path will have no direction. You are not living up to your potential.

Insights from Chapter 1

#1

I’m currently going through another expired relationship. I’ve learned that the only thing instant in life is our reactions, and I’m no longer interested in mine. I want to be Mr. Steel Cut Oats. I’ve humanized the therapist, used the Internet as a therapeutic tool, and taught life coaches a different way into growth.

#2

I grew up in a family that only discussed numbers around the dinner table. I had no emotional cushion or modeling. I lived underneath a sense of panic created by my parents’ fears of not living The American Dream.

#3

We must start with how we feel if we want to grow and live at our potential. We must start expressing our state, instead of trying to fix other people’s feelings.

#4

If you don’t allow yourself to feel, you’ll never be able to experience growth. If you don’t allow your feelings to be expressed and validated, your new path will have no direction. You are not living up to your potential.

#5

To change your mindset, you must first knock down the first domino. Your feelings are not just about your feelings. They are about ownership. If you don’t own your feelings, you will never know who you are.

#6

Take a minute to play back your life. What do you see. Don’t pick and choose moments. Allow whatever comes up. There will be pain, joy, regret, and shame. But there will also be feelings that come up when you replay your life.
Insights from Chapter 2

#1

Transparency means being honest with others and with yourself. It means accepting your story, which is the most valuable thing you will ever have. It’s what makes you different from any other person on the planet.

#2

To accept your past, you must make peace with it. By accepting your past, you are making a choice to no longer live in it. The tipping point is when you not only accept your past but also appreciate all of the things that went wrong and know that they were pockets of learning.
