O God, You have taught me from my youth;
And to this day I declare Your wonderous works.
Now also when I am old and gray-headed,
O God, do not forsake me,
Until I declare Your strength to this generation,
Your power to everyone who is to come. Amen.

About the Author
PREFACE
The first chapter of the Bible tells us why we are here. God created mankind in his own image, to be loved and have fellowship with him. Knowing God and having a true understanding of who you are and why you were created is fundamental and complimentary to fulfilling your purpose and destiny.
God’s word to Samuel the prophet states, “For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). God is looking for humble, teachable, loving hearts, yielded to his purpose. The most important endeavor that we can pursue during our life is to know the Lord and maintain truth and purity in our own heart. We will examine the root cause of widespread deception, growing darkness and evil that is enveloping the world and God’s provision for living in truth, peace, and joy in the midst of expanding and increasing apostacy.
In Legacy for Eternity, I have presented insights and expounded on Scripture from Genesis through Revelation to help build a biblical foundation for understanding the gospel, and God’s desire to restore the relationship of humanity with their creator. Elements of the gospel are purposely included in multiple chapters. Emphasis is given to the person and deity of Jesus Christ who is Creator, Savior, Sovereign King and Lord.
My strong conviction is expressed in Second Timothy 3:16 which asserts the following: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” so we may be knowledgeable and equipped to live righteous and God-pleasing lives.
Numerous Bible references are provided as both verification and support for the concepts and ideas presented and as a resource for additional and more extensive personal and group study. Some information and principles are presented in list form for brevity and to facilitate reading.
My hope and prayer are that you will be informed, inspired, helped and encouraged as you grow in your relationship with the Lord Jesus.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The concepts, insights, and thoughts presented in this book were derived from my study, memorizing and meditation of God’s word over many decades. I am sure that the teachings of others have contributed extensively to my understanding of the Scriptures. The source for some of my ideas may have long been overlooked or forgotten, but I know that all who have been obedient to our Lord to preach, teach, write, inspire and encourage others will receive their reward in heaven.
Ginny, my wife for fifty-two years, is a continual blessing to me and our family and a regular reminder of God’s goodness. Ginny’s encouragement, patience, and typing assistance during the writing process has been invaluable.
I am grateful for God’s grace, the assurance of forgiveness because of Jesus’ sacrifice, and the presence of the Holy Spirit that teaches and imparts truth and understanding.
I offer Legacy for Eternity with prayer that the insights and presentation of the Scriptures will strengthen your spiritual foundations and confirm in your heart that you are greatly loved by your creator who desires your fellowship. May you be encouraged in your personal study of God’s word and have an increased desire to spend time in his presence.
Chapter 1
CREATED TO BE LOVED
When God created the first man, he breathed into Adam’s nostrils the breath of life and Adam became a living being. I visualize Adam opening his eyes and seeing the glorious face of God, his creator. What a moment that must have been. Adam had been created to have intimate fellowship with God.
God is eternal, having no beginning or end and is completely self-existing. He has need of nothing. He does not need air, food, warmth, or shelter. He is self- sustaining and completely independent of all of his creation. We wonder, Why am I here? What is the purpose of life? Why did God create me? The simple answer is, God created human beings because he wants to love us and have our friendship. Yes, God wants you to be his friend. We are the object of God’s love. The true understanding of the character of God is, he is absolutely good and he is love.
In any good relationship, both individuals must value the other. God already loves us. We can choose to love and share our heart and life with him. No one can give your heart to God but you.
While walking and praying one day, I remember asking the Lord how I could be a more loving person. In my heart, I knew I was struggling with being critical, judgmental, and concerned with the decline and rejection of Judaea-Christian values and morality. I was thinking about Jesus walking around in a sin-filled world and I asked God how he (Jesus) loved people. I heard these words – “ Because I Am Love . ” The words wer
