Description

What to Expect When You're Your Wife Is Expecting Pregnancy books for couples abound, but You Got This, Dad is just for guys. Aaron Sharp, a dad of four, draws from his experiences to help husbands, especially first-time dads, navigate the amazing, uncertain, and sometimes scary process of pregnancy and childbirth. With self-deprecating honesty, plenty of humor, and amusing asides from his lovely wife, Elaina, Aaron steers soon-to-be dads through the complex events and emotions surrounding pregnancy. From finding out their spouse is expecting to bringing baby home, husbands will be equipped to handle whatever the next nine months (or their wife) throws at them. Guys will receive not only practical guidance but also a better appreciation for God's miraculous gift of a new life to care for. When they know what to expect and how to support their wife, new dads will gain confidence and learn to laugh at their foibles. Give this guide to an expecting father with a reassuring smile and remind him, ';You got this.'

To MOM AND DAD
A book probably shouldn t begin with the writer admitting that he doesn t have the words for something. But trying to express my love and appreciation for the two of you has left me feeling as if I have a most inadequate grasp of the English language. I love God because you taught me to. I love books because you taught me to. Who and what I am today can be traced back to the two of you. Like the proverbial turtle on a fencepost, I know I did not get here by myself. No son was ever as blessed as this one.
PS If you don t like how you are portrayed in chapter 22, I would just like to remind you that the two of you have always encouraged me to pursue writing. So really, it s your own fault.
Don t you see that children are G OD S best gift?
the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?
Like a warrior s fistful of arrows
are the children of a vigorous youth.
Oh, how blessed are you parents,
with your quivers full of children!
Your enemies don t stand a chance against you;
you ll sweep them right off your doorstep.

About the Publisher
THE SHARP TEAM
A s a sports fan, I am intimately familiar with the concept of a team s roster. The roster is a list of all the players on that team. Some of those players are starters, and some of them are reserves. But they all make up part of the team. If you don t happen to be a sports fan, don t worry. I promise to keep the athletic analogies to a minimum, but I thought it might be helpful for you to get to know the Sharp team before we get going.
THE STARTING LINEUP
Aaron Sharp (dad; author of this book). I play a lot of roles for team Sharp. I am the family muscle (not the brains). Once when my wife, Wonder Woman, was pregnant, I got put in charge of the family calendar, and we showed up to a going-away party a full week early. I play catch, lift ballerinas in dance parties, read bedtime stories, and grill steaks. My catchphrase is Go back to bed. I am a founding member of team Sharp.
Wonder Woman (Elaina Sharp; wife of Aaron; mother of four small humans; editor and footnoter of this book). In our family, Wonder Woman is the brains to my brawn. She is what makes our family go. If it wasn t for her, none of us would know what we were doing, where we were supposed to be doing it, or when we were supposed to be doing it. The kids might end up at my job, and I might end up at preschool. Chaos would reign. She is a seamstress, an avid reader, and a writer. She works a full-time job, is in charge of the kids educations, and generally puts up with shenanigans from the five other members of the team. She is without a doubt the team MVP. Throughout this book, her footnotes provide her perspective on my perspective of pregnancy. She is a founding member of team Sharp.
The Zoologist (firstborn small human; lover of all things animal). The Zoologist, like all firstborns, believes it falls to him to make the rules, most of which benefit him. As the firstborn, he has been on the receiving end of more of his father s parenting missteps than the other children (no doubt this will come up in counseling one day). As this was our first pregnancy, it was-as y
