PR Newswire
LONDON, July 12, 2012
LONDON
,
July 12, 2012
/PRNewswire/ --
The UK's first 'Cold Laser' therapy for nail fungus has been launched
this week by the London Nail Laser Clinic on Harley Street,
London
.
Primcogent Solution's clinically proven cold Lunula Laser, the most advanced
technology in fungal treatment, brings new hope to thousands of people in the
UK suffering with nail fungus
Fungal nail infections, which damage nails and can be painful if left untreated,
can be caught by anyone regardless of age or gender and affects one in ten
people in the UK.
Once caught, it is extremely persistent and has until now been difficult to treat
even with prescribed medicines.
The new Lunula Laser treatment can offer patients relief from the
embarrassment of nail fungus in as little as three months.
Martine Abrahams, Podiatrist and Director at the London Nail Laser Clinic, said:
"Although a nail infection isn't life threatening, having one can really effect a
person's quality of life.
"When nails are affected by fungus, they may thicken and are often noticeably
unsightly.
"Some of our patients won't go swimming for fear of being stared at, while
others who long to go for a pedicure, wear flip flops or go barefoot on the
beach, can't because they feel too embarrassed.
"Likewise, people worry what their partners might think of their afflicted feet,
particularly if they are entering a new relationship.
"A nail infection can really lower a person's self esteem to rock bottom.
"The new Lunula Laser is going to improve the quality of life of so many people,
so we are really excited to have been able to launch it at the London Nail Laser
Clinic.
"We take great pride and gain huge personal satisfaction from relieving our
patients of the social burdens of having nail fungus."
Completely safe and pain free, the
London
nail Laser Clinic's Lunula Laser
treats nail fungus in two 30 minute treatments, without the risks and harmful
side effects of oral medication, or the pain and recovery time associated with
other laser treatments.
Using Low Level Laser Technology (LLLT) the Lunula Laser combines two lasers
of different wavelengths.
One laser set at a wavelength of 405 nm targets fungal activity, while another
set at 635 nm stimulates a natural response from the patient's own immune
system.
Unlike older hot laser treatments, the cold temperature of the Lunula Laser
means there is no discomfort during the treatment.
It is usual for patients to see some change in nail appearance within three
months of being treated with the new cold laser; in a recent study of 105
toenails, 62 percent of toenails treated achieved at least a 25 percent increase
in clear nail growth after 3 months.
Lunula Laser treatment is available now at the London Nail Laser Clinics in
Harley Street,
London
, and Radlett,
Hertfordshire
.
Lunula Laser treatment costs £600, which includes three appointments. The
treatment is available on a hire purchase scheme - terms and conditions apply.

Fungal nail infections (onychomycosis) are very common - affecting up to one in ten of
the UK population.
It affects men more than women and is more common with age.
Hot, sweaty feet in all-day shoes provide the ideal warm, damp environment for fungi to
thrive.
Contaminated floors in gyms and swimming pools and unhygienic nail cutting
equipment can also expose your feet to the fungus.
Nail biting, smoking, poor foot hygiene, trauma from running, ill-fitting footwear, and
medical conditions like diabetes or psoriasis increase the risk of infection.
