Our Opinion:As we’ve mentioned a time or two before, “magic happens when genres are crossed and boundaries are broken, so we love those bold enough to go where few have gone before.” Therefore, one can safely assume that we’resmittenwith the owners of this Federal Heights find. The exterior, a stately and time- honored Tudor, holds an interior that’s more spectacularly-modern than you might suspect. The current owners spared no detail in turning this 1920s home into a clean, functional, and impeccably-designed living space. The handsome hardwood floors were painstakingly redone, and every dowel of the banister was taken out, refinished, repainted, and re-placed. Those longing for the authority that historic brick commands, yet wistful for the cleanliness of modernity, will delight in this happy marriage of the two. We think the photos speak for themselves, but allow us to point out a few of our favorite things: the all-new (and all buttoo good to be true) kitchen, which is brimming with tasteful finishes and Calacatta gold marble; the breakfast nook, which is perfectly perched in a beautiful bay window; the main bath (that tub, that shower, thatwallpaper) and perfectly large walk-in closet; and the custom, striped tile job in theguest bath. But perhaps it’s the fact that all these striking, artful, and modern touches are housed within this sturdy bit of history that we like most of all. In short, through good taste, a discerning eye, and more than a little patience, this gorgeous (and timeless) Tudor was gently, and very stylishly, brought into the 21st century.Sigh…welcome home.
