I have had the distinguished honour of reading and occasionally prodding some of the poems in Lade Wosornu’s îrst two collections of poetry. I have also had wonderful opportunities of having some serious discussions with this enormously talented humanist and physician on some serious questions of life and our sojourn in this little planet.  This new collection, coming hard on the heels of very successful earlier collections, is a testimony to Wosornu’s enduring commitment to poetry, and his engagement with the eternal artistic spirit, our god of songs, which regularly provokes him into making profoundly prescient statements on man’s common fate. Celestial Brideis a major leap forward; it is the work of a poet who has îrmly found his feet and whose voice is fully tuned to the resonating sounds and thoughts of our common humanity. What is particularly exciting about this new collection is that Lade’s grasp of the ego-centre, the self-point of creativity, that near Cartesian reality from which all art must ow, is fun and self-assured. The range and the encompassing capacity of this artistic radiating centre of his personal genius is also given vehicle as well as a growing and effective craftmanship. Each word, each turn of phrase, each pause, and each rhythmic phraseology reveals care, a wonderful ear and an exquisite love for language.  This new collection is a major contribution to Ghanaian as well as world poetry in English.
