« Through its genealogy, the film is located on the branch: fresco-painting-photography, and the video on the following branch: surface of water-lens-microscope-telescope. By its origin, the film is an artistic instrument: it represents. By its origin, the video is an instrument of study : it presents ». The video is a figure of passage whose matter does not cease changing. Like W. Flusser shows it, it is a water surface, a traverse of transparent environments. It rests on an economy of flow, between a liquidity and a materiality ever reached. « It is water flowing in the middle of the water ». Unlike cinema, it does not have off-field: without depth, it poses a myopic glance on the reality, which it increases like a lens. Conscious of this, with an eye which is also that of the photographer, the artist plays on this confusion between the motif and the medium: water is the essential support of the video image; water does not represent something else than itself, whereas the mirror comes from our need to represent ourselves. This is why the artist’s video works do not participate in the narcissistic model that one usually lends to this medium. Water is like a flow of pixels and reality then becomes an undulatory phenomenon . Most of the works of the artist, including those which refer to the care given to the horses, are situations of immersion of body in the water, whatever that they depict, the survival, the performance or the rejuvenation of the bodies.
