Oracle Education has only two recommended vendors for practice tests: Self-Test Software and Transcender. Both providers are owned by Kaplan IT and provide similar functionality. TheTranscender tests are more expensive. Regardless of the vendor chosen, you need to make the best use of the practice tests. What you don't want to do (but happens all too often), is to take the tests over and over again until you get100% onOracelStudy.comand then schedule the real test. The practice test is not the actual test, and this behavior isn't learning, but rather memorizing. This will leave you unprepared for any questions on the real test that weren't on the practice exam. In addition, memorizing question-answer pairs may well lead you to answer the real test incorrectly if it has a similar question asked from a different perspective (perhaps it has a 'not' that reverses the correct answer).

I have used self-tests for preparation on about a quarter of the IT tests I've taken, but I would never recommend them as a primary study source. Self-tests have a place in studying for IT certifications. Theyprovide a reasonable indicator of how close you are to being ready to pass the real exam. However studying for the test should be done using other sources: the documentation, third-party books, or computer-based training. As a general rule, you should study the other sources prior to testing your knowledge with self-tests. The only exception to that is if you already have some knowledge of the material being tested, and you want to locate your weaknesses. In that case, you'd want to take the test at the very beginning of your period of study. Once it points out your weak spots, concentrate on those areas when you are studying using your other materials.

How to Prepare With Self-Test for Oracle Certification Exams? Every time you re-take a self-test, the results become less and less useful in determining how prepared you are for the real exam. This is especially true if you take the tests in 'Practice Mode' where the answers are displayed after each question. By the time you are taking a test for the fourth or fifth time, much of your score will be based on prior memory of the questions and answers. The results can't really be considered an accurate measure of your knowledge. If you have purchased theOracleStudywith multiple exams, you can reduce that version problem by only taking the first one or two tests and saving the third for use only when you think you are ready for the real exam.

It seems counter-intuitive, but you should only use the 'Practice Mode' of the tests after you are no longer going to be using them to measure how ready you are for the real test. Going through the test in practice mode is valuable for learning the concepts you missed. However,

it destroys the value of the test for measuring your knowledge of the test topics. When you go through in practice mode,try to memorize the concepts behind the question and answer rather than the text of the question and answer. You are much more likely to see a real test question on the concept than one that matches the practice test question exactly.

If you study the topics provided by Oracle Education and give yourself sufficient time to absorb the information, you should do well on the test. Good luck
