Syria - Année 1998 - Volume 75 - Numéro 1 - Pages 161-169Several reliefs discovered in the territories of Cyrrhus, Beroia and Hierapolis, in Northern Syria, display a typical dolichenian iconography. They are directly linked to the cult of Jupiter-Zeus from Dolichè. Others, in the same region are testimonies of Jovian cults. All together they prove the extension of the devotion to the great god of the mountain and storm — either Hadad or Jupiter Dolichenus — in rural communities of Northern Syria during Roman times. A Latin inscription from the Euphrates bank (Khirbet Khalid) has to be connected with the cult of Jupiter Dolichenus among Roman soldiers. 9 pages Source : Persée ; Ministère de la jeunesse, de l’éducation nationale et de la recherche, Direction de l’enseignement supérieur, Sous-direction des bibliothèques et de la documentation.
