Eco-traveling is becoming increasingly ‘the next thing’ for those adventurous at heart, who are
fed up of tours to the most crowded tourist traps; they want to walk the path less travelled.
And when trying to pick a destination, Costa Rica is one of those gems that shines brighter
every year on most eco-travelling top recommendations lists, with its towering tree tops,
unusual species, rapid waters, hot springs, and much more.
Costa Rica has practically become somewhat of an adventurer’s holy grail lined with
mountainous peaks and outlined by picture-perfect coasts: a real treat for outdoor activity
enthusiasts. Whether you’re looking to get your feet wet with white water rafting, surfing,
snorkelling, fishing, or simply a dip n’ swim; or you want to put your navigational instincts to
the test by hiking; or you want your dopamine rush with some fast-track mountain biking or
canopy tours, Costa Rica’s got a thing or two for you.
Located in Central America, Costa Rica has been showing infinite potential as a tourist’s
destination with increasing numbers of visitors every year. This democratic country is
peaceful, and it has been army-free since the late 40s. Despite being such a small country,
almost 26% of the terrain consists of natural conservation and protected territory offering
shelter to about 5% of all the biodiversity of the world.

The distance from end to end is about 200 miles and it extends itself between the Pacific Ocean
and the Caribbean Sea.
Costa Rica is divided into 7 provinces, which are: Guanacaste, Cartago, Puntarenas, Heredia,
Alajuela, Limon, and San José. Furthermore, the marine territory that goes by the name Coco’s
Island is one of the world’s most well-known natural reserves. Traveling through the different
provinces makes it instantly obvious that it’s rare to find such a variation in landscapes and
climate almost anywhere else in the world.
Anything including rainforests, volcanoes, rivers, beaches, and natural resources grace Costa
Rica, and it is protected by a National System of Conservation Areas.
Due to the richness in biodiversity, Costa Rica provides the opportunity to experience it in all
its splendour in any of its 20 natural parks, 8 biological reserves, and a multitude of other
protected areas, which make up about 25% of the country’s whole area.
Within only a reasonably short distance, travellers can get in with the chance to visit
volcanoes, Pacific and Caribbean beaches, tropical, dry wet, and rainforests, and jungles. Some
of the most outstanding conservation areas include the following: Central Volcanic Mountain
Range, La Amistad Caribbean, La Amistad Pacific, Osa, Tempisque, Guanacaste, Arenal
Tempisque, Arenal Huetar Norte, Tortuguero, Central Pacific, Coco Island Marine
Conservation Area.

The majority of the demographic consist of the Mestizo, and several colonial and national
ethnicities make up the rest.

been a military force. This has saved the country money, which has been invested in improving
social and urban infrastructure to improve the citizens’ lifestyle.
Generally speaking, Costa Ricans are very hospitable, well-mannered, and hard-working people
who take pride in this reputation.
They are always willing to help foreigners who need a hand, and this reputation has made
