The practitioners such as Derren brown are known as mentalists they appear to have enhanced mental abilities such as telepathy, clairvoyance, mind control and also hypnosis amongst other skills. These forms of magic are the most rewarding, but the most secretive tactics.

How to learn Mentalism

You can pick up some tips and tricks from YouTube and other websites that have an easy tricks for free but no one at the world class level of David Blaine or Derren Brown would teach you their secrets for free, because this is such an immersive and skilled form of magic. I spent a lot of time being involved with magic first learning card tricks and coin tricks which is a great place to start, however I always had that burning desire to astound people with magic that made them believe I could read their minds or even influence them. If you have watched Derren brown you will know that he has great influential powers over people. With suggestion he makes people do things you wouldn’t normally do and this contributes to why it’s so hard to find someone who will teach you mentalism.

How I learnt to perform mental magic For me my journey into mentalism started with using the power of suggestion to beating people at Rock-paper-scissors. This is really simple to do, but you quickly find out that not everyone is open to the power of suggestion which is why you screen for hypnotism acts. I tried learning better, more impressive tricks and increasing my knowledge of the fundamentals for free by reading guides and watching YouTube videos.
