Ways to Make Experienced Drivers Safer C.R. England management is always looking for ways to make our experienced drivers safer on the roads. Furthermore, part of our hiring strategy is torecruit and hire experienced driverswith good safety records. To say that safety is a top priority at C.R. England would be to state the obvious.
Having said that, we know that not every trucking outfit is like ours. Many want to be safer but just don't know where to start. Others make an honest effort to develop a safety strategy but, for one reason or another, fail to follow through. We want to help. Below you'll find several different ways trucking companies can help make their experienced drivers safer. Each one of these suggestions has already proved successful among America's most trusted trucking firms. Establish Written Policies for Safety The practice of establishing policies within an organization is intended to make it clear what is expected of everyone involved. That's certainly true for safety, and one of the reasons every trucking company should have established safety policies in writing. These policies establish the rules drivers are expected to abide by as well as providing a matter of corrective recourse should it be necessary. Bear in mind that even the most experienced drivers will not know what is expected of them unless written policies are established. A lack of expectations is a good way to encourage your company safety record to falter. Offer Safety Incentives Nothing does as much for driver safety as incentive programs. Companies that do not think they should have to offer incentives to encourage safety may have a point in principle, but the point does not align with reality. Experienced drivers who also qualify as safe drivers are very much in demand across the U.S. If it takes safety incentives to recruit them and also make drivers already on the payroll safer, so be it. You do what you have to do.
Provide Ongoing Training Remedial training is an important part of running a successful trucking operation. Regular driver meetings and training sessions should always include at least something relating to driver safety. One month’straining might talk about adapting to weather conditions; another month might be devoted to proper load securement procedures. The point is to keep safety at the forefront ofdrivers’minds so that it's something they frequently think about. The nice thing about training in the digital era is that companies can offer remedial sessions to their drivers without having to actually assemble them at a single training location. Training can be conducted online using software, videos, slide shows, etc. Maintain Equipment Meticulously One part of making experienced drivers safer has nothing to do with how they drive. Rather, it is about maintaining equipment up to the highest possible standards. There simply is no excuse for putting unsafe trucks on the road, trucks that could endanger company drivers and anyone else who happens to be sharing the highway. At C.R. England, we are very proud of our equipment. Our late-model, state-of-the-art tractors and trailers are meticulously maintained for maximum safety, fuel efficiency, and driver uptime. Each of our vehicles is also equipped with the latest safety and communication technologies that protect our drivers by reducing their risks. We are committed to making our experienced drivers as safe as possible. If you are interested in working for a company that truly makes safety a priority,C.R. England wants to speak with you. We have positions for new drivers, experienced company drivers, independent contractors and driving teams. Please give us an opportunity to show you what C.R. England has to offer.
