Ceiling Fans with Lights
With the rising fuel costs, obtaining a ceiling fan with an energy-efficient light fixture made into it is a
superb way to save on your
energy saving bulbs
bills and help conserve our natural resources. A
appropriate ceiling fan will not only circulate cool air in the summer, but will also efficiently distribute
warm air in the winter.
During the summer, a fan operating in the normal mode pushes air down at you. This can make you feel
as much as 4½ degrees cooler (eight degrees Fahrenheit), which allows you to raise your thermostat and
reduce energy costs.
If you run your fan in reverse (clockwise) in the winter, it will push up on the warm ceiling air, forcing the
air across the ceiling and down the walls, making the rest of the room warmer. This can lower your
heating bill by up to 15%. Winter or summer, just make certain that you don’t leave the fan on for long
periods of time when no one is in the room.
A fan’s blades help determine the amount of air that gets circulated throughout the room. The greater
the pitch, the greater the air movement, providing the blade pitch has been properly harmonized with
the motor. But some manufacturers skimp on materials and don’t use powerful enough motors to
support right blade pitch. So they compromise on blade pitch, sacrificing appropriate air movement to
reduce the stress on under-powered motors. The blade’s pitch should be no less than 12 %.
Some manufacturers also use extra thin blades to reduce costs, which means diminished air movement.
Remember that a high-quality fan won’t always be unreasonably high-priced.
Be sure to scale your

fan to the size of the room it will be in. Use a 30-inch fan for rooms
up to 80 square feet, a 36-inch to 42-inch for rooms up to 150 square feet, and a 50 to 54-inch for rooms
up to 300. For a long, narrow room, you might be better served to get two fans, running lengthwise
down the room.
Depending upon the local building regulations, the bottom of the ceiling fan needs to be put a minimum
of 215-230 cm (7-7 ½ feet) above the floor, and ideally, 240 cm (8 feet). For maximum comfort,

circulation, safety and aesthetics, you should place it in the middle of the room. For safety reasons, you
shouldn’t install a fan over a bed.

can enhance your fan's design, with lampshades being available in the wide assortment
of materials from crystal to hand-blown glass. For the nice, relaxing environment, look at up-lighting,
where light bounces over ceiling to generate really a mood effect.
You may want to consult professionals to be certain that this wiring is big enough to handle fan and
lightweight combination understanding that the ceiling is sturdy enough to aid the load from the fan. On
average, a ceiling fan run using high speed will consume less power than the usual 100-watt lamp. Some
ceiling fans weigh up to 20 kg (45 pounds).
A bathroom fan should be specifically designed and approved for damp locations. Make sure you look
for one specifically designed and UL-listed for damp locations.
