Laura
When I go on holiday abroad I always try to learn some of the local language and meet some of the local people.
I’m not like those tourists who just lie on a beach, eat the same food as they do at home, and don’t try to learn
anything about the local culture. Why don’t they just spend their money on a sunbed instead?
Susan
The travel agency where I work is doing well at the moment because so many people are taking weekend breaks
in cities all over Europe. They can afford them because the flights are so cheap. We also sell lots of ten-day and
two-week package holidays to Spain, Greece and Florida – they’re always really popular.
Dave
For me, a proper holiday means having nothing to worry about, apart from remembering to put sun cream on.
That’s why I love package holidays. You’ve got the coach from the airport, three meals a day at the hotel, a nice
pool, a nice beach, cheap drinks – what more do you want? Maybe satellite TV, so you don’t miss the football!
Oliver
Because air travel is so bad for the environment I really think people should start going on holiday closer to
home. We can all do something to help slow down global warming and one way is to take fewer flights,
especially to destinations on the other side of the world.
For the last two years I’ve taken my summer holidays here in the UK, and they’ve been good. I’m going to Italy
this year, though – I’m dying for a bit of sun.
