SUMMARYA new method combining graphical displays with principal component analysis (PCA)has been used to evaluate published data on the toxicity of seven chemicals to 14 species(17 testing procedures) of aquatic biota. The results show the usefulness of simplegraphical approaches to analyze the structure of environmental data sets. Thus, the studyindicates the importance of endpoint selection and underlines some relationships amongthe species and chemicals.
