JOB DESCRIPTION Title of Post:Senior Cardiac PhysiologistGrade of Post:Band 6Reporting to:Chief Cardiac PhysiologistAccountable to:Principal Cardiac PhysiologistLocation:Trust wideThe post holder will be required to work rotationally between the Ulster, Downpatrick and Lagan Valley Hospitals Job PurposeTo perform a range of specialised cardiac investigations. To undertake the clinical supervision of trained and student cardiac physiologists and cardiographers 1. Clinical/Main ResponsibilitiesPerforming specialised cardiac Investigations, interpreting and reporting results to other health care professionals, whichmayinclude (a) Physiologist managed Exercise Electrocardiography (b) Ambulatory ECG and B.P. Monitoring (c) Cardiac Ultrasound (d) Pacemaker Evaluation (f) Adult and Paediatric Resting Electrocardiography (g) Cardiac Catheterisation
2. Managerial Responsibilities (a) To supervise basic grade, students and cardiographers (b) To train staff including basic grades, cardiographers, clinical placement students and medical / nursing staff. (c) First line equipment management including evaluation and appraisal (d) To order consumables (e) To collate departmental statistics (f) To participate in the department duty rota (g) To communicates effectively with line manager, team members and other Health Care Professionals to ensure an effective and efficient service. (h) To communicate effectively and appropriately with patients and service users. 3. Contributes to a high quality cardiac investigation service (a) To perform investigations to the relevant professional and quality  standards (b) To adhere to all Trust and Departmental Policies and procedures. (c) To adhere to all relevant Health and Safety Policies (d) To continue professional development by attendance at appropriate training courses. (e) To participate in research and audit as required. The post holder will be required to have a flexible approach to working arrangements responding to changes in working practices and departmental rotas as required to meet service demands.

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION Title of Post:Senior Cardiac PhysiologistBand6 Essential Criteria BSc Hon Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent. Evidence of 2 years CPD in Cardiac Physiology Current shadow registration with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiology(.RCCP) Candidates from outside of the United Kingdom will be required to have their qualifications and experience assessed by RCCP prior to an offer of employment to ensure that they qualify for registration.All candidates must hold a current full driving licence valid in the UK with access to a car on appointment.
