ISO HISTORY AND DEFINITIONS WHO ISO IS ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 148 countries, on the basis of one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system.

IntroductionThis booklet contains key information about your graduation ceremony and advice on how to make the most of your day. *we reserve the right to refuse admission if you arrive whilst the ceremony is taking place. RegistrationOn arrivalYOU MUSTregister at the registration desks. Our registration area is located in the main atrium of the O2 – you will see it in front of you as you enter the centre directly underneath the ‘blue ball display’, just before the entrance to the main O2 arena. Please arrive early to avoid congestion and queuing.
Registration desk opening times:12noon–2.15pm, with your ceremony starting at2.30pm.
On registering you will be given your programme and your calling card/ticket. Graduands and guests willnotbe admitted into the hall without a ticket or a calling card. You must keep your calling card with you at all times – this has your seat number on it and must also be given to the person reading the names out on stage.
You will be seated on the ground floor, directly in front of the stage; guests will be seated towards the rear of the ground-floor level and in the balcony section – their tickets will indicate which level. Guests who have requested wheelchair access or extra leg room will also be seated in on the ground floor.
Guest ticketsGuest tickets will be emailed out to graduands approximately two weeks before each ceremony. If you have requested extra tickets we will let you know as soon as possible if they become available. Please continue to check our website/Facebook page for updates. Extra tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
There will be no admittance for anybody who shows up without a guest ticket.Late arrivals on the dayRegistration will close promptly at 2.15pm. Anyone who has not registered by this time will not be able to enter the hall once the ceremony has started.Special requirements Please ensure that you have advised the graduation team if you or any of your guests have any special requirements that you feel we should know about as soon as possible.Carers and interpreters who aid the deaf/hard of hearing may accompany graduands free of charge without counting towards your guest ticket allowance, but we must be notified about their attendance before the ceremony. CancellationsShould you be unable to attendPLEASElet us know as soon as possible so that we can rearrange the seating in the correct order for the presentation. Our ceremonies often have a waiting list for guest tickets and we may be able to reallocate your seats if you are unable to attend.CertificatesCertificates and Diploma Supplements are not presented at the Graduation Ceremonies and you will receive them by one or two ways:
• bypost through Royal Mail recorded delivery/registered airmail to the address nominated on UEL Direct
• bycollecting in person – requests for this can only be made by email.
All certificate enquiries must go through our assessment unit:assess@uel.ac.uk
Reception Immediately after your ceremony you and your guests are invited to attend a reception in Union Square, which is adjacent to the indigO2. You will be issued with admittance tickets when you register. Here you will have the chance to meet up with family, friends and lecturers whilst enjoying some hospitality after the ceremony.Gown hireUEL gowns are dark blue and the hoods are lined with rust-coloured silk. If you haven’t done so already you can hire your gown through Ede & Ravenscroft Ltd, our official gown suppliers. This can be done by telephone on+44 (0) 1223 861854or online at:www.gownhire.co.uk. Your gown will be available for collection from 12.00pm until 2.15pm at the indigO2. The collection point for gowns is the marquee behind the indigO2 hall. This will be signposted when you arrive, and ambassadors will be on hand to direct you to the correct area on the day.PhotographsTempest Photography will have several studios open throughout the day. They will be located in theAmerican Sports Bar and Grill, which is located immediately to your left as you enter the O2 centre. Once your photograph has been taken, you will be given a digital printout from which you can place an order either on the day or when you return home.
The photography studios will be open from 12noon until 2.15pm and again when the ceremony is over.Professional photographs will not be taken whilst the ceremony is taking place.Please feel free to take photographs in the main hall during the ceremony. We would ask you, however, not to block the view of the other members of the audience seated behind you.DVD Sapphire Video (West) Ltd will be filming the ceremony. The DVD will include footage of UEL, plus various informal shots of activities in the run up to your ceremony, soaking up the atmosphere and, of course, the ceremony itself. DVDs can be ordered online from our website, or on the day.Feedback survey Within a month of your ceremony you will be emailed a feedback survey. This is your opportunity to let us know what you thought of graduation. All completed entries will be put into a prize draw for £50 worth of Amazon vouchers and the winner will be picked at random.
Alumni NetworkThe Alumni Network works to develop lifelong relationships between the University and its former students. They produce regular communications and run a wide variety of events throughout the year, including reunions, lectures and workshops.
The Alumni Network works closely with the University’s academic Schools, the Employability and Enterprise Team, and Knowledge Dock Business Centre in order to provide alumni with opportunities to further their educational and professional development and also to allow them to support the University through a variety of participation schemes such as student mentoring. Membership is free and detailed information on all that we do, and how you can get involved, can be found on our websiteat uel.ac.uk/alumni.
The Alumni Team will be at the indigO2 on your graduation day and will be happy to speak to you about the Alumni Network, so please pop by and say hello.

Enjoy!This day is a celebration of your achievement and more than anything we want you to enjoy it. The graduation team as well as School staff and ambassadors will be on hand at all points during the day to help and guide you, so please, if you have any concerns or question, come and find us.

We do not recommend bringing young children to yo they are long and formal occasions. Children over 5 y have their own seat and will have to pay the full £25 f accompanied by an adult and will count towards your who attend as guests areyourresponsibility. If they a suitable adult guest you will be asked to leave so that Please note that children and other guestsdo notsit the ceremony. There are no concessions and everybo enter indigO2.
We reserve the right to ask any child or adult to leave unnecessary noise that is disruptive to the proceeding
It is the graduand’s responsibility to make us aware of or their guests may have as soon as possible in order necessary seating arrangements.
Students with outstanding debts to UEL are not eligibleo aen until all monies are cleared. These include tuition fees, rent, libra accommodation fees, etc.
Requests for ticket refunds must be made in writing no later than one week before your ceremony. Refunds cannot be guaranteed if requests are received after this period.

Failure to adhere to these terms and conditions will result in graduands losing their place at the ceremony.
It is expected that all graduates and guests will remain in their seats until the end of the ceremony. We reserve the right to exclude anyone leaving the ceremony early without good reason from the reception.

Thames Clippers (www.thamesclippers.com) provide an O2 Car and TaxiLondon’s orbital motorway, the M25, offers easy access by road. indigO2 and the O2 have 2,200 parking spaces. Customers attending an event at indigO2 are entitled to a discounted car park rate of just £5, in car parks 2 and 4 only. Please note, car parking is subject to availability and you will not be able to pre-book spaces at this discounted rate.
Destination of Leavers in Higher Education Survey In November and April you will receive the Destination of Leavers in Higher Education (DLHE) Survey asking you whether you are in work or further study, and we will also telephone you. The information you give us helps us to calculate the employability statistic for UEL graduates. This is a very useful indicator for our existing and potential students. Also did you know that you can get support from UEL’s Employability Team for two years after you have graduated?
