Mathematics Booster Course

What? The Mathematics Booster Course is funded by the Training and Development Agency. It is for applicants for PGCE Secondary Mathematics Courses.If your knowledge is relatively sound but you need it enhancing then the two week Booster may be the course for you.Typically this could mean that you have not studied mathematics for a long time or that your degree focused on particular aspects of mathematics (eg some engineering degrees).

Your knowledge of mathematics will be audited to ensure that the provision matches your needs.The content will cover GCSE mathematics but will be at a level appropriate for intending teachers.

Why? Our 10 day intensive course will give you the opportunity to:  Build confidence and skills to prepare for a PGCE or GTP course and teaching career  Broaden and refresh your subject knowledge Gain a certificate of completion to enhance  applications to ITT courses

Who?  Students offered a conditional* place on a PGCE/GTP course (*due to insufficient subject knowledge)  Graduates who completed their mathematics degree over 5 years ago Students who have overseas mathematics  qualifications Students in mathematics who have applied  or are considering applying for a PGCE/GTP

Where? Manchester Metropolitan University, Didsbury Campus

When? Monday 28 June — Friday 9 July 2010 10 days full-time.9:30 am - 3:30 pm

Costs The course is FREE.You are paid a bursary of £400 on completion of the course. Low cost University Accommodation is available, please ask for details.
