What?s Happening at the Alsip Park District
Mike Baiardo was recently presented the Award of Excellence from South West Special Recreation Association (SWSRA) for all of his hard work, devotion and commitment with the Southwest Half Marathon. Mike has served as the volunteer coordinator for over 300 volunteers for this event where SWSRA is a benefactor. The Alsip Park District is a proud member of South West Special Recreation Association. SWSRAs main office is located in the Apollo Recreation Center. SWSRA serves people with disabilities in nine communities including Alsip. Congratulations Mike and thank you SWSRA for all that you do for our community.
The Alsip Park District has many dedicated staff that are here to serve the needs of our residents. In 2011 several of our staff celebrated a big milestone with their years of service to the Alsip Park District.

Congratulations to the Alsip Park District's Gymnastics team! The Level 2 team won the State Championship and 7 of the 8 girls finished in the top five for their age group. Marissa Sokolowski won the top honor for having the highest All Around score for the entire Level 2 State meet. She finished with a score of 37.10 out of 40.00. Congratulations to team members: Madelyn Rudman, Alison Zemeckis, Juliana Knies, Lilly Taylor, Tanylah Gillen, Ty-Yanna Erving, Anna Regnerus, Marissa Sokolowski.
Our Level 4 team also competed in the State Championship and all four girls (Riley Lyons, Kira Longawa, Maddie Schaack, Jenny Hernandez) placed in the top half of their age group. Way to go to all levels of the Gymnastics Team and Coaches Michelle Rudman, Laura Cis and Kelly Galvin, we are proud of you!
The Fountain Hills Golf Club completed bunker restoration. A full course bunker restoration project began at Fountain Hills Golf Club toward the end of the 2011 golf season with 3 out of the 7 holes being completed. The final four holes will be worked on this spring which will complete the bunker project. Fountain Hills Golf Club offers a 9 hole, par 36 layout covering 66 acres, bentgrass tees and greens, practice area with putting and chipping green, 30 lighted station driving range and a full service clubhouse including restaurant.

Alsip Park District Board of Commissioners The Park Board is composed of five non-paid individuals selected by you to serve elected terms. The Board is primarily a policy-making body that reflects the needs and interest of all taxpayers. The Board of Commissioners meets on the fourth Monday of each month at the Apollo Recreation Center, 12521 South Kostner at 6:30 pm. The public is welcome to attend.

Plant a Living Tree Memorial
The Alsip Park District is proud to offer this program that will allow Alsip Residents the opportunity to honor and/or memorialize relatives and/or friends with the planting of a tree in one of the Alsip Park District Parks.
To become involved in this tree program, you will make a contribution to cover the cost of purchasing a tree that you choose from a list of authorized trees that the park district has approved. The minimum size of trees shall be two inches in caliper. For purchasing a tree, a donor will have the opportunity to assist the park district in selecting the site where the tree will be planted and you will receive a letter acknowledging the donation.

All children coming into the pool without a parent will be required to prove residency with a report card with an Alsip address on it. Any child under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an individual over the age of 16.NO EXCEPTIONS!
General Membership Information 1. All season pass registrations will take place at Apollo Recreation Center during regular office hours. Proof of residency will be required! Adults 18 years of age and older will need a minimum of 2 pieces of identification (1 must be a picture I.D. with an Alsip address and the other must be a current utility bill). This includes people renewing membership as well. 2. All season pass members must have a photo I.D. card made at the Apollo Recreation Center. 3. Bring your2011 pool pass or activity cardwhen registering. 4. Family memberships are based on 4 people. Family memberships can include a Grandparent and/or babysitter as the adult in the family pass package. Additional resident family members will be charged $20.00 each with SPF 45 and $35.00 each additional resident family member with the SPF 30 and SPF 15. Additional non-resident members will be charged $35.00 each. 5. A family membership will be sold to two adults and any children living in the same household under the age of 22 that are full-time students. Only immediate family members are allowed to be included in the family membership. The student will be required to show a current school I.D. 6. Any adult 18 or older who is not a student living in the household with mother and /or father will need to purchase their own pool membership. 7. It isYATORMANDfor all children that are not potty-trained to wear Little Swimmers and Rubber Pants. You may purchase these items at the front desk of the pool. If your child is found without these on in the pool, you will be asked either to purchase one from the front desk or to leave the Aquatic Park. 8. Pool Rentals Pool rentals are available from 8:15-10:15 pm and Saturdays 10:00 am-12:00 pm on a first-come, first-serve basis, with pool members receiving priority on date choice. To hold your reservation, payment must be madeIN FULLat the time of the reservation, and a $100 refundable cash deposit must be left with your registration form. This will ensure that there is no damage to the property and that there are fewer than 100 people entering the pool. If you wish to bring more than 100 people, there will be a charge of $50 per 100 extra participants. If your party goes over the 100 person mark, $50 will automatically be taken from your cash deposit. Anyone entering the Aquatic Park facility will be counted as 1 participant, swimmer or non-swimmer. Registration will only be taken at the Apollo Recreation Center during regular office hours. Rentals are available Monday-Sunday evenings from May 31-August 12. No week days after these posted dates only Friday, Saturday and Sundays are available after these dates.ALLnight rental participants must arrive between 8:00-8:15 pm to get instructions and rules andALLmorning rentals must arrive between 9:45-10:00 am to get instructions and rules. Private Swim Lessons Private swim lessons allow the participant the opportunity to work with the swim instructor on a one-on-one basis. These lessons are ideal for children, adults, or someone with a fear of the water. Concerts on the Green-Save the Dates Remember to mark your calendar for an Alsip tradition. This years concert series will be back at the Fountain Hills Golf Club, 12601 S. Kedzie Avenue, Alsip.Four bands will be featured at this years outdoor concert series. offering a wide variety of entertainment, this is the perfect event for the entire family. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the evening. The Club House bar and restaurant will be open during each concert. No outside food or beverage will be permitted.
