ISSN 1022-6559 7 September 1998 The (ontents of this bulletin are based on RTD-News, updated every day, and other CORDIS databases NEW HELPDESK TO NAVIGATE THE IPR MAZE The EU's INNOVATION programme last week launched an important new initiative: the establishment of an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Helpdesk, located in Luxembourg. The new IPR Helpdesk will focus on three tasks: ■ To publicise and improve awareness of the importance of protecting and exploiting Europe's IPR assets. Special attention will be paid to developments arising from EUfunded RTD Projects; ■ To assist researchers in such projects, as well as potential applicants for EU R&D funding, in locating and licensing existing technical developments; ■ To support teams in locating the assistance necessary to register, protect and exploit their inventions. In fulfilling these tasks, the IPR Helpdesk will establish wide fax or telephone.
