A Walk to Remember: Every Step Counts in the Fight to End Alzheimer’s
Regency Home Care Supports Atlanta’s Alzheimer’s Association Chapter in 2015 Walk to End Alzheimer’s®
Atlanta, GA; October 23, 2015 –Recently, northern Atlanta’s Regency Home Care joined nearly 3,000 others in the Atlanta Alzheimer’s Association 2015 Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, raising both money and awareness to help fight this devastating disease.
th Alzheimer’s disease is the 6 leading cause of death in the United States, and according to the Alzheimer’s Association, every 67 seconds someone in the U.S. develops the disease. Regency Home Care takes great pride in their efforts to raise awareness of the need for continued Alzheimer’s research and in their efforts to educate the local community about how to properly care for loved ones with Alzheimer’s.
Regency Home Care’s Director of Client Relations, Kathleen McLaughlin, served as the Community Outreach chair for the Atlanta Walk to End Alzheimer’s®. McLaughlin noted, “I often counsel families about their next steps in managing care for Alzheimer’s. It is a terrible thing for families to watch their loved one lose memories of a spouse or children. Although their loved one is physically still present, it is like his or her identity is becoming a fading photograph. Thankfully, there are resources like the Alzheimer’s Association and Regency Home Care to provide support and education about what to expect during the various stages of the disease and how to best communicate with loved ones during those different stages.”
The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Held annually in more
than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
