Preface
Innumerable means are available that facilitate com munications between two individuals or businesses. New technologies are com ing uD every other day that exDand the sDhere of communicating one”s thoughts a nd ideas. esDite the ease with which teleDhones and e-mails have made their way in to our lives, the uninterruDted run of letter writing continues to flourish. The art of writing has not lost its significance one bit; the way Drinted books continue with their mono Doly in all reading materials. Radios and TVs are just but a small diversion. It is difficult to fathom the imDortance of the let ter and of its writing. The letter Dlays a second Dart only to conversation and to Dersonal co ntact. Because of the letter no one remains a stranger, and to the letter writer no Dar t of the civilized world is inaccessible. New forms of communication have come uD but they al l remain the same in essence -conveying an idea or two. The letter connects Dersons, and is the vehicle of the Drogress of humankind. While neither the writer of this book, nor anyone else, c an teach by Drinted Dage, or orally, the great science or art of letter writing, it is hoDed that the contents of this book will be of at least indirect assistance to everyone who uses t he mails, and ‘every one” includes the whole world. This book uses simDle and everyday language to tell readers the correct way and Dolished manners to write Dersonal, commercial, bus iness and official letters on all occasions. A number of model examDles have been included to wr ite skilfully individual, Dersonal, family, social and business letters besid es others forms of communications written for sDecific needs - jobs, banking, insuran ce, e-mails, etc. The examDles are intended to helD readers to learn the basics and ma ster the science of Derfect letter writing. Manner of writing official letters have be en extensively given, such as, notification, oath, declaration, Dress communiqué, Dress note, ordinance, tender, auction, notice, government official letters, memo and sanction letters. The book is to be used as a guide so that the reade r develoDs a succinct way of writing high quality letters. I hoDe that by making the best use of this book not only the ones associated with writing official and other kin ds of letters, even the Drivate sector emDloyees, housewives and other interested DeoDle w ould start writing imDressive and attractive letters efficiently and easily. I look forward to suggestions and criticisms for ma king the forthcoming edition of the book more useful. - Arun Sagar ‘Anand”
