Description

This book uniquely asserts that political Parties have taken control of the government away from the ordinary People granted control by the Founding Documents. These Parties use it for their own benefit and are today's version of the Ruling Elites who have historically dominated all ordinary citizens, always and everywhere; it offers a plan to allow ordinary People to reclaim their Freedom.

INTRODUCTORY REMARKS
The “spirit of party,” George Washington referred to in his Farewell Address as “part of human nature” and government’s “worst enemy,” is a manifestation of the innate drive within some people to control others. That powerful need to dominate has caused the organization and rise of the political Parties in response to democracy, just as it caused the rise of the controlling royalty, emperors and dictators of history; Parties are the current expression of the desire of the few to control the many.
Political Parties were not part of the self-governance plan prepared by the authors of democracy. George Washington detested them and warned against their negative influence on our liberty and welfare. We can see the disunity that they cause, and we are experiencing how far away from the traditions and intent of democracy a dominating Party can take us. Parties are highly controlling consumers of Liberty and have wedged themselves between us and our government. It is our need, and it is our duty, to correct that.

PREFACE
The Ordinary Author and the Book
Some years ago, I enjoyed constant interaction with a friend who represented the idea of character better than any man I have known to date. He expressed well all the values he was committed to, and one of them was humility. As if to underscore his personal acknowledgment that he was no better than anyone else, he would often sign off on a message as “only Don.” As his neighbor, I would go by his house nearly once a day. You would recognize him, and he would recognize himself, as an ordinary person living on an ordinary road near an ordinary Midwestern town. There are millions and millions of ordinary People in our country and worldwide—millions who just seek to independently improve their lives and are willing to work hard and honestly to secure a good and happy life. They don’t want to be controlled in their lives nor to control others in theirs. Like Don, I am one of those millions.
But we must understand that there are those who see themselves differently, as part of a ruling class. This group exists naturally everywhere and has found a ready nest in the political Parties of the world’s democracies. In America, the mother of modern democracy, they are tightening their grip, and we ordinary Americans are their targets. To them, we are in the “Fly-Over States,” we are Outside the Beltway,” and we are the “Sheeple.” We are people (as sheep) to be herded and shorn, mocked and ignored. Usually hidden, sometimes the scorn of those who seek control becomes evident. We must realize that any democracy, while not yet reaching either its broadest reach or its highest level, has internal enemies. They are at work. And we, the beneficiaries of democracy and the capitalist system that fuels it, need to know who these enemies are in order to protect ourselves and ours. We, fellow ordinary, hard working believers, are the source. We accept personal responsibility, commit to a lifetime of work, support our families, communities and faiths with our time and money, follow the rules, create new ideas and businesses, and pay most of the taxes. We are the producers. Without us, there is no nation. You know it. I know it. There is no one who will stand up for us because all of them use us. We must stand up for ourselves. As a reader of this book, you are, most likely, an ordinary American like me, and it is for us, and for our international ordinary brethren that I have written this book.
Like you, I was not born with a “silver spoon in my mouth.” I got the “live above a garage and have a divorced mother who was a waitress in a donut shop” spoon. For years I was raised by my grandparents in an apartment in the Midwest. I learned early that the outcome of your life was in your own hands. I started working a job at age 14. In high school, I was a successful student athlete and I believed my American Government class. With one brief exception, I have lived my life working in non-government jobs. I have been previously active in both political Parties but have not been in any Party for a long time. I have been a ditch digger, a construction laborer and was the first in my family to go to college, a state college. I worked my way through college as a janitor, a dishwasher, a handyman, a salesman and a truck driver. Sometimes I had to make tomato soup from free ketchup packs and hot water in order to eat. I have been in three unions. As an employee of both large organizations and small companies, I have felt the pain of economic downturn and backstabbing internal warfare. I usually have had more than one job. I started a business from scratch while I continued working my 60 hour weeks. Then I risked everything, and worked 80 hours a week or more for my own company. After three years of that, I took my first paycheck. Eventually, I sold it and did well. I have spent a lifetime volunteering for charities and helping my neighbors; I did all the ‘kid things’ with my stepson and have served my church and my community.
If you are in that ruling class of Elites, you probably think my life is funny, pathetic, and maybe even meaningless. It is no wonder you fly over without even noticing. But, if you are an ordinary American, then you can probably connect with some—or maybe even most—of my experiences. You and I can identify with each other because we ordinary Americans have much more important commonalities than we do differences. When we set aside our skin color and family origins, our gender and religion, as all Americans know we must do, we ordinary People find unity in our values, commonality in our spirit, and commitment to our country that is unstoppable. We have seen it in our steady national improvement, exhibited it on hundreds of battlefields, and experienced it in countless human relationships.
The thing is, most of us ordinary People in America and other democracies have been asleep politically. We have assumed that everything is already set. We have believed that all is either just the way it is, or the way it should be. It is not. We did not see the Parties, using our government, acting to cause disunity and to reduce our Liberty. We have been called the “Silent Majority.” This book is intended to help strengthen the wake up call. We see now that we cannot silently go about our work and lives any longer. It is past time for us to be loud, very loud, and time to act; but act we will.
As an ordinary person, I have worked hard all my life. I live on a nice street, count my blessings, and just want my family and friends to be safe and happy. That is what we ordinary People do. We expect that reward should go to those that earn it, that people behaving badly should be punished, and that the g
