Description

Know who you are and how you were created so you may function better in this life and be assured of your eternal destiny.

Deep down, we wonder what life is all about. We ask ourselves questions like who and what we are? Why are we even here? Is there a real purpose in life? Are we here because of a big bang that took place billions of years ago in outer space? A time when life just happened to evolve out of nothing but deadness. Or, are we here due to a divine purpose? Is there an eternal power that created not only humanity but everything throughout the vast universe?

Jesus Christ revealed the Mystery of Humanity in the Gospel Message He proclaimed. The words spoken by Jesus are life-giving and provide the key to eternal life and entry into the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus tells us not only who we are but who we can become. Follow the author as he guides you through the Scriptures in both the Old and New Testaments that reveal who you truly are and your eternal destiny.

INTRODUCTION
Have you ever wondered who you are, how you came into being, and why you’re here in the first place? I think most of us have asked ourselves these questions at some point in our lifetimes. When life is good, we feel like we’re on top of things. We’re happy and content. But then there are the dark days when we face problems that often seem unbearable. Perhaps the loss of a loved one, employment problems, a business failure, marital issues, divorce, bad health, and the list goes on.
It’s usually during the hard times when these questions pop into our minds. People can get so upset with things that they may ask themselves if it’s even worth trying. If all there is to life is sadness, despair, and heartache, then why even bother? What’s life all about anyway? Maybe I’ll just quit trying and throw in the towel.
If you’ve had thoughts like these, rest assured, you’re not alone. Many people have felt this way at one time or the other. However, things usually get better, and they put these thoughts out of their mind until the next disaster strikes, then here they come again. If you can relate to this, don’t feel like it’s just you because you have plenty of company.
For example, there was a King who ruled over the ancient nation of Israel. He was the wisest and wealthiest person who ever lived. He was so rich and powerful that there was nothing he could not have or do. He did whatever he wanted, both good and bad. His name was Solomon. Even with all his wealth and power, he had a dismal outlook on life. He summed things up as vanity. He said, “Vanity of vanities; all is vanity” (Eccl. 1:2).
Solomon went on to say, “For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow” (Eccl. 1:18). He was saying the smarter he got, the sadder he got. Feeling this way, Salomon turned his attention to acquiring anything and everything his heart desired. He said, “Whatsoever mine eyes desired, I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy” (Eccl. 2:10). But even that didn’t satisfy him. He looked at all he had done and said, “all was vanity and vexation [disturbing and meaningless] of spirit” (Eccl. 2:11). Solomon was saying all he had done was in vain.
However, he didn’t give up. He turned to the study of wisdom and also madness and folly. He found that wisdom excelled folly as far as light excels darkness. But he said one thing pertained to both wise and foolish people – death. So, he continued to say life was vanity and vexation of spirit.
On the positive side, Solomon said, “Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they [people] have sought out many inventions [schemes]” (Eccl. 7:29). Even though God made man upright, he schemed and disobeyed God. Finally, Solomon said, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” (Eccl. 12:13). Solomon’s conclusion was the only thing that matters is man’s relationship with God. All the schemes which people come up with to find truth and happiness are foolishness. There is no truth in them. They are vanity and vexation of spirit.
I’ve recapped some of Solomon’s comments to show people they are not alone if they’ve experienced feelings of despair, sadness, and perhaps even worthlessness. Others have felt this way all through history. Regardless of who they are, rich or poor, powerful or weak, people may feel this way from time to time. While Solomon points out that physical life is of little value, physical life is not the end for us. It’s our spiritual lives that matter, which was Solomon’s conclusion.
It’s our spiritual lives that will last through all eternity. The only accurate and meaningful answers to life’s questions are those found in God. Even though people come up with schemes to avoid God, in the end, He, and He alone, has not only the answers but the solutions to all our questions and concerns.
Whether we are good or bad, rich or poor, we all have an eternal future. Once a person understands who they are, why they’re here, and their eternal destiny, their feelings of anxiety and hopelessness will begin to fade away. God holds forth a fantastic future for those who believe and trust in Him.
This book aims to help people learn about who created them and the intricacies of their complete being. To help them understand who they are and the reason for their creation in the first place. And, most importantly, to understand the love of God and how He will work in their lives to develop them spiritually and bring them into His eternal kingdom.
CHAPTER 1
The Origin of Humanity
B efore we can understand who we truly are and where we’re going, we need to know how we came into existence. Many people believe they evolved through an evolutionary process. The promotion of the theory of evolution began with Charles Darwin, and his book, The Origin of the Species by Means of Natural Selection, published in 1859 A.D. Darwin’s theory of evolution has been embraced by millions of people worldwide. However, over the past fifty years many scientists, who once believed in the theory of evolution, no longer embrace it. While some of them will not acknowledge the God of the Bible, they admit there has to be a superior force that created life and the universe.
Evolution is a theory based on observation. The word theory means an idea or set of concepts used to explain observed facts or phenomena. Darwin developed his view of the origin of life on this basis. One should understand the theory of evolution goes entirely against the Word of God. Many Christians believe Satan, the devil, contrived it to lead people away from God.
In this book, we’ll examine the origin of humanity according to God. God’s Word, recorded in the Holy Bible, has proven itself to be factual beyond doubt for thousands of years. The fulfillment of Biblical prophecies alone is significant proof that the Bible is the Word of Almighty God.
Millions of years ago, before the earth and its solar system existed, the Lord God Almighty and His Son, Jesus Christ, were present. They are spiritual beings and have existed forever and will continue to live for all eternity. Throughout the ages, God created millions of spiritual beings. He made the angels, the seraphim, and all kinds of heavenly creatures.
Then God decided to create supreme spiritual beings. Beings that would have feelings and would make their own decisions. Beings He could converse with, and have a one-on-one relationship with, and would live with Him for all eternity.
To accomplish the task of creating these superior beings, God devised an eternal plan. The apostle Paul refers to God’s plan as His eternal purpose, which He accomplished in His Son Jesus Christ (Eph. 3:11). The first stage of God’s plan was to make a dwelling place for the beings He would create. So, God created the heavens and the planet called earth (Gen. 1:1). Then He created light and divided it from the darkness. God called the light day and the darkness night.
Next, God made a firmament, an atmosphere, around the earth, which He called heaven. Then He separated the water that covered the planet, and dry land appeared. God called the dry land earth and the water He called seas. After this, God created all kinds of grass, herbs, and trees to live on the earth. All of which were capable of reproducing themselves.
By this time, God had spent three days creating a habitat for the beings He would soon create. He had made the heavens, the earth, day and night, an atmosphere, dry land, seas, and all kinds of vegetation and trees. They would provide all the essential
