Adventures of the Five Rabb Boys
Thanksgiving at The Ranch
B. A. Mihalchick
CHAPTER 1
Thanksgiving at The Ranch
It had been five months, since the family had been at the Ranch, in Minnesota. They were ready to go, back.
The boys were ready to water ski, at the Lake. Daddy said, “Do not count on water skiing. Maybe snow cross country skiing.” Daddy explained, it is the beginning of Winter, in Minnesota.
“You guys, better pack your winter jacket, hat, gloves and boots, just in case. In Minnesota, at this time of the year, it could be 65 degrees above zero, nice, warm and sunny and the next day be ten degrees below zero, very cold and windy. The weather is very changeable,” Daddy explained.
That did not sound good to the boys. How can they go water skiing, in the snow?
His boys went to see, Mommy about the weather, in Minnesota. “Please call the weatherman, on TV, tell him to not allow, this cold weather, at the Ranch,” Andy, Jimmy and Billy suggested to their Mommy. “We want to water ski, with our cousins,” Bobby and Danny added. “If you live in Minnesota, you take the good weather with the bad weather. There is nothing you can do about it but move someplace else, down South to a hot weather state,” Mommy explained. Andy suggested, “Let us move, then.” Jimmy voted, “Move.” Mommy told her boys, “We are not moving the Ranch.”
The boys walked away to their bedroom dejected. “We are doomed. A chance of no water skiing,” Andy said to his brothers. “Yes. We are doomed,” Jimmy agreed.
