The Good Gorilla
T oday, I would like to tell you some stories about a gorilla from
Rwanda.
Rwanda is an African country about a tenth of the size of
the United Kingdom. It is not a wealthy country but has some
lovely features.
It also has a large number of gorillas which can be huge and they generally walk using their arms as legs. They use their immensely strong muscles the same way as we do and are very intelligent, and protective of their families.
They can be mean and nasty (as can we humans) but also can be quite gentle. It is better for them if we let them do their own thing.
One friend, Dan, is an adventurous man who loves the great outdoors and camping is second nature to him. Dan has the reddest of red hair.
Dan has some great stories to tell especially one about the time when he and his girlfriend, Jenny, decided to paddle a canoe for a week or so around Lake Kivu, in Rwanda.
Over many thousands of years some of the banks of the lake had become quite steep and unclimbable with no footholds or rocks or trees to assist a climber. A lot of the area around Lake Kivu is heavily jungled.
