I n this book, we’re going to talk about the female goddesses of the Olympian. So, let’s get right to it!
R eligion was important in the civilization of Ancient Greece. The Greeks, like the Romans, believed in dozens of different gods and goddesses. They believed that if they worshipped these deities and gave them gifts that they would protect them.
T he gods and goddesses had the power to improve their lives as well as help them when they passed over to the afterlife. They also believed that if the gods or goddesses were unhappy with you they would punish you. There were different gods and goddesses for every aspect of life.

T he Ancient Greeks worshipped their gods and goddesses in elaborate tem- ples that they constructed to honor them. They had shrines in their homes where they could place offerings to one or more of the gods or goddesses. To honor their deities, they also had outdoor religious cer- emonies, festivals, and sports events, such as the Olympics.
T he gods and goddesses came forth from the Earth, which was called Gaia, and the sky, which was called Uranos. The Greeks thought that their gods and goddesses were just like people only with superpowers. Their deities fought with each other, fell in love, and had children.
