Prologue

He awoke with a smashing headache in an awkward position in what seemed very unfamiliar territory. It seems he smells hay about and horse urine, his senses are a bit confused this morning. The young king sits up with a dizzy, sick feeling with his head spinning, his mind slowly regaining comprehension. It dawns on him that he was in fact lying in a bed of hay, dressed in only a loincloth. The king would lie still, regaining more of his dulled senses as his eyes gather his surroundings and he in fact is lying in a barn full of animals, with the sweet aroma of animal piss and dung that fill his nostrils with such an aroma as this.
What a rude awaking this morning and heads will surely roll by the end of this day:
The prince became a king when his father died rather abruptly during war.
The prince, now king, found himself in a political upheaval at home with only one close political friend he could count on...
The new king found himself slowly losing political ground in the Kingdom of Unity.
The new king and his woman entertain politicians, kings and enemy in an attempt to bring peace to the entire region.
During these times, the king grew soft in the middle with wine and much food.
Unbeknownst to he and his betrothed a plot is in the works to rid his enemies of his presence and unite many kingdoms of evil by eliminating the one true righteous king in the area, and defeating all of his followers.
The friend of the king spoke up against this, but as a knife came to his throat, he had no choice but to beg for his king and the woman to live.
The enemy conspired to save the lives of the king and his woman to drop them on the other side of the world with nothing, and surely, they will never be able to return…
The kingdom of Unity will believe, that the king died and a fake ceremony, passing the king could commence and since the king had no heir, a new king would have to sit at the thrown, who the king’s friend, who was the close appoint, will provide.
The other members of the meeting having had much wine thought hard and considered this to be a wise decision, as the king has many warrior followers and if they found out about any treachery there would surely be an uprising. It will be risky but the advisor can appoint a successor and no one would be able to do anything about it.
Therefore, the members decide to take the king and woman to a far away land across the world far away across the seas. Therefore, they would never ever find the way back to the home they love …But they forgot in all, the son of a mighty man savage barbarian brute there is one man from the hills of the land of Unity who was now a king fighting to regain his kingdom.
The two leaders of the rival kingdoms who were in need to take over sought to send an assassin to trail after the king and lady, to make sure they never made it back to the kingdom alive. They met an assassin who chose his contacts in secrecy. The price was high and no one was ever disappointed unless that is, you are his target. He is a shadow in the night, which follows from behind.
This is their journey home to the kingdom of unity, and their fight for what is theirs, but first, they have to find and fight their way across the world with nothing except their wit and brawn.

Chapter One
The God’s New Game

Apollo and Hercules are up in the heavens playing tennis on a court lined of gold. “40-love games match my serve”. Raising his racket Hercules throws up the gold-laced tennis ball and serves with his golden racket and as the ball sails across the court with flames behind, Apollo dances to the spot of impact for the return and stops short. “It’s outside the line!” As Hercules charges the net
“Your blind old man that was clearly in, you cry baby.”
Zeus replies from the judge’s box, “that was in, Hercules wins.”
Hades yells from the other court, “you keep it down over there we are trying to have a peaceful game over here, if you don’t mind.”
Apollo breaks his racket into pieces over his knee. “You two have been ganging up against me the whole match and I have grown tired and bored of this game.”
Hercules and Zeus both “We would never be unfair to you, why would you think such a thing,”
“Regardless, I am bored let us play with the humans down below.”
“Ok” Came from Zeus, “but I set the rules this time and you both will follow them or I shall banish you from hither for a thousand years.”
Laughing Hercules sets his racket upon an angels lap and walks up to his father, “Oh Zeus such a dramatic old man, ok we shall play by your rules and follow them.”
Just then, Apollo chimes in “Let’s pull strong men from different nations and…” Zeus interrupts
“ I told you,” thundering “I will set the stage and make the rules, and you will follow them, you shall choose your champions, and add twists along the way after that, I shall choose my champion and we will never interfere directly but only by indirect means.”
Hercules sits upon a lingering cloud scratching his chin thinking, “this could be fun... ok I am up for it, how about you Apollo?” Apollo ponders a bit walking toward the others “well, it does seem to entice me, but you two don’t play fair.”
Zeus laughs aloud, “Oh come now Apollo, you’re not still sore about the tennis match?”
Ignoring the question Apollo continues “Ok sure I am in, let’s set up this game.”
Hercules stands up “great”, while pacing around, “go ahead Zeus.”
Zeus looks down at the earth and readies a bolt “I am going to throw this bolt down upon the earth with my eyes closed and see where it lands.” The three gather on the edge of the cloud looking down upon the blue planet below as Zeus closes his eyes drawing back his right arm to let loose the lightning bolt upon the unsuspecting land.

Chapter Two
The War

The kingdom of Unity has been at war with the surrounding nations for four hundred years over land rights. Unity has vast riches to the north in gold mines that the Men of Krondon and the mighty men or Turlanon want to subjugate.
King Santos of Unity has tried the political route to resolving the issues, and when this fails, the king set up a stronghold to the north around the gold hills called the Golden stronghold of Parthanon. This is the most secure area in the world, and the men of the Dark Earth are constantly trying to crack the secure 40-foot high concrete walls, which surround the area, with no success.
The king has caught wind of a plan, which on the early morning of this day the warriors of Krondon are going to attack through the southern village of Stronglon. King Santos sent all forces to the area. The king has always relied on a young man by the name of Markotheon to aid him in moving the troops in a swift manner. Markotheon has even saved the king's life on more than one occasion. Because of Markotheon’s age, the king has not yet made him a general. However, that is all about to change.
Five hundred archers line the hills above "Hounds Tooth" valley that overlooks the grassy fields below, while the king sits upon his white steed drawing his steel broadsword, with the gentle wind swaying the trees; the sun begins to rise in the east.
Behind the trees awaiting the king’s command, fifty knights on the east and fifty more on the west with lowered lances, sit upon their steeds with battle armor adorned symbols from the kingdom of Unity.
The steady relentless footfall of thousands of soldiers marching down the road in perfect unison heavily armored foot soldiers, as the armor shines with each footfall and each arm swing. Murmurs heard and talk through the ranks as the captains maintain order to the soldiers. Upon the north hill in front of the archers, stand three hundred and seventy five pike men at attention facing south looking four hundred yards into the shadows of the fields below toward the soldiers of Krondon who are assembling their troops to begin their attack on the village of Anthon.
It seems that King Santos has surprised them on this early morning.
Behind the king, through the trees, stands a sixty-foot high gate with solid walls that stretch one hundred yards to the east and one hundred yards to the west attaching into the hills of the mountain range. Just beyond this gate in an encampment just before the village of Anthon stand ready ten thousand soldiers from the kingdom of Unity who are preparing for war. They are swordsmen and soldiers who carry two twenty four inch steel broadswords on armored hips. Some of these battle-armored men carry axes and lances to stop any forward progress that enemy have in mind.
