I dedicate this book to all of the people and situations that have sparked emotions so strong that I was compelled to express them through poetic verse.
I hope that as you read or hear my poetry that you feel inspired or challenged to positively express yourself and share your story.
A Piece of Me:
Through these poems I share a piece of me,
A part that often you cannot see.
The thoughts that are running through my mind;
Some random, some humorous, some concerns of the times.
As I share, I hope to motivate and inspire
Evoking thoughts and actions that will not tire.
My perspective of things is in these rhymes
Please ponder the meaning within the lines.
I hope you find a poem or two
To carry on your journey to help make it through.
My Hero:
A tribute to the most influential man in my life
– My Fat her –
Gerald L. Pauling , Sr.
1940- 2010
“My Hero” is what I call that man
And I’ll be just like him, if I only can.
He works hard and long day after day
To make sure I live in a comfortable way.
But more than that he has taught me
The true meaning of the word “RESPONSIBILITY.”
If I have a lesson or Carlos has a game
He gets us there through snow or rain.
On Wednesday nights when Gerald is on the air
He can count on one listener to be right there.
On Friday he takes us all out to eat
And his Saturday breakfast can’t be beat!
I can depend on him to always see me through
He is my BEST FRIEND and MY FATHER too!
On Angel Wings:
A tribute to my mother whose love, nurtu ring, teaching, and unending support continue to guide, inspire, challenge and strengthe n me!

On angel wings, I now fly
To my heavenly home beyond the sky.
My angel wings, God has gifted me
For accepting Him as my Savior, you see.
For these angel’s wings I have always yearned.
But they were received by God’s grace because they can’t be earned!
On my angel wings, I soar above;
To once again see my earthly love.
These 11 years have been a lifetime it seems.
But my sweet husband has always come to meet me in my dreams.
On angel wings I now fly to find,
All those whose journey was before mine.
My mother, father, sister and brothers,
Aunts, uncles, friends and so many others.
I have raised my 3 sons; and they know that of them I am proud!
I will now watch them achieve their dreams from beyond the clouds.
You kept your promise and cared for me well!
I’m grateful for that, how grateful… words cannot tell.
My 8 grandchildren, daughters, nephews, nieces and friends;
My love for you will never end.
Near to you and in your hearts, I will always be;
These angel wings allow that you see.
On your face when you feel that light brush of air,
It will be my angel wings letting you know I’m there.
My time with you, for now, has come to an end;
But rest assured, we’ll meet again!
Heaven’s gates are open; welcoming me in.
On my angel wings I’m whole again.
“Your race is over; well done!” my Savior said
As He placed a halo upon my head.
Yes, on angel wings I now fly;
Forever in your hearts and always nigh!
A Brother’s Bond:
I wrote this poem in the Summer of 1984, when my older brother left to attend college at the Univers ity of Illinois. He has always been an inspiration , a guiding light and powerful influence in my life!
