Pushing for delivery
Or emotional ejaculation
A talking tic
But here
Right now

Followed by second

Trauma Drama

Screaming at out efforts
To tell her
She was court retained
And ordered to take Lithium
After her manic madness
Had set the hospital aflame
She tore up the papers
Then ran to the phone
Calling the hospital director
Shortly after her peer
Took up the cause
And in a kamikaze attack
Came charging at me
Fists and invectives flying
Amazed by my defensive finesse
I slipped and slid and moved
Up and out of Bedlam
Tapping away the trauma
All the way to Vermont




All Of Us

It wasn’t just the solo gunman
Who slayed twenty children yesterday
But all of us
Who protected
His Second Amendment rights
To arm himself like a terrorist
And explode his psychotic fantasies
In a schoolhouse in Connecticut

Fog of film noir
Fog of Vermont
Fog of January thaw
Fog of delirium
Fog of disorientation
Fog of misperception
Fog of cognitive decline
Fog of deepening dementia
Fog of my vision
Fog of yours

Face To Face

Eye to eye
At Mommy’s breast
Why did face to face
Become so hard
We loved smoke signals
Beating hollow logs
Tin cans strung together
Phones and walkie-talkies
Morse code
Radio and television
Now the Internet
Facebook and Twitter
We hardly notice
A smile or frown
Hunkered down
Scrolling away




Plain Truth

One plus one
ABC
Here to there
Everywhere
Light and dark
Land and sea
Love and hate
You and me

What’s going on Same old same old
How’s it going It’s going
Come on folks
Show me eighty billion neurons
Lighting up and kicking in
Make something happen

By describing her daughter’s dilemma
I translate silently listening openly
She drops her guard invites me in
Who doesn’t like an open door
Once inside we are together again
