About the author
Jocelyn has spent many decades working with people and their animals enabling them to acknowledge and move through the glass ceilings that they have unconsciously engineered.
Graduating from the University of Surrey in 1985 with a BSc.Hons in Biochemistry/Toxicology with Forensic Science along with several epiphanies concerning the Thalidomide story, Jocelyn then turned her attention to Complementary Medicine, gaining qualifications in a multitude of healing modalities including: Ostoeopathy, Cranial Osteopathy, Reflexology, KST, Light body Integration, Homoeopathy, to name but a few! Fascinated by why the body decided to become dis-eased in the areas that it chose and how health could be restored.
However her personal life was fraught with challenges culminating in a narrow escape on the first day of “Lockdown” 2020, which subsequently provided the necessary impetus to realise that she now needed to take a long hard look at how she was showing up in the world and how to swing it around.
To Ride a Horse
To ride my horse is such a thrill.
My worries and fears outward spill.
To hear the rhythm of moving hooves
Expels the doubt and brightens truths.

I feel our bodies move as one.
On earth there is no greater fun.
It’s like flying without a care,
Feeling the wind stream through our hair.

The countryside goes careering past.
Wow! This is really fucking fast!

It’s time to slow down from this gallop.
My racing heartbeat needs to slow up.
Beneath, I feel another plan.
So, in my stirrups my feet I jam.

The hedge ahead is gaining fast.
My life before me has just gone past.
We’ve left the ground and up we’re flying.
Now is the time to really start praying.

We’ve landed now on the other side.
I open my eyes; I think I can ride.
Autumn
Autumn is here, the trees are ablaze.
Fluffy equine coats and shortening days.
Summer has gone, along with the weather.
Wellies to be worn and coats full of feather.

Horses will soon be stabled at night.
Pricked ears over doors is a fabulous sight.
Mucking out every morning with a gigantic barrow.
Clearing the fields ready to harrow.

Winter is coming, it will be Christmas too soon.
Everything needs to be completed before noon.
Chopping wood to put on the fires,
Opening doors to God-awful choirs.

So live every day as if it’s your last.
Stay present, be pleasant and let go of the past!
Henry and Dave
Henry horse is big and brave.
He also knows a goat called Dave.

Henry horse was once so shy.
If someone said “Hello”, he’d cry.

Poor Henry had no self-esteem.
He found it hard to follow his dream.

Then one day he said, “I know,
It’s time to simply just let go!”

He listened to his internal chatter
And decided that it didn’t matter.

He felt such joy, and became aware
That he could live without a care.

He now no longer fears the new.
Dave was chuffed, a kiss he blew.

Now Dave and Henry follow their dreams.
Miracles flow to them like golden streams.
