This book of poems is a collection of thoughts, feelings and ideas written in the aftermath of the Covid flu pandemic. These words document some noteworthy moments of clarity uncovered along the way. They express some of the joys and frustrations experienced by many but also provide actionable food for thought as we continue striving to navigate the tumultuous times in which we live. Sincere questions concerning the verifiable truth of the mainstream narratives that saturate the media and bombard us daily are explored in the hope that such authenticity and candor will assist in your personal quest for self-actualization, understanding and inner peace. Blind obedience is blindness. Healthy, productive individuals in a free society are best served in a respectful environment of self-discovery where one does not have to fear ridicule or social stigma for courageously considering and evaluating ideas for their own innate value.

Numinous nubile
Dressed to the hilt
Venomous vixen
Playing the jilt
 
Thinking about her
Makes my heart wilt
Living without her
Fills me with guilt
 
River run rampant
Bed full of silt
Abundance a plenty
Mountain man tilt
 
Callous creek blister
Cabin got built
Off grid resister
Bard on a stilt


AS
When the flowers fade
And the sky turns grey
And the sands of time
Wash us all away
Who will know your name?
 
Our youth flies by
Like a carnival ride
When we’re young we try
To take it all in stride
What do we think we gain?
 
The generations grow
Like a falling snow
Shall cover the ground
In the moonlight’s glow
These are the moments that count
 
The babes of the young
Like a song still unsung
Make a peaceful hum
Put smiles on everyone
Remind what it’s truly about
 
The times that we cared
All our kindnesses shared
Our souls have been bared
Our hearts are now paired
Saturated with love
 
Every child in time
Has their own little prime
A forum to shine
A mountain to climb
A destiny to fulfill
 
Like an endless breeze
Caresses live oak trees
And the snowbird flees
From the winter’s freeze
All things as they are
BROKEN
Trails of broken glass
In sunset’s dying glow
Strewn upon the ground
Like California snow
 
Roadway full of death
A painful path of tears
Anger and the anguish
Are written in your fears
 
Sudden, dark surprise
Feelings born of storm
Emotions like a knife
Dreams are ripped and torn
 
An evil wind befell us
Tribulation time
Suffering like dogs
Cut down in our prime
 
Frustrated and bewildered
By cunning necromancers
Why must we endure this?
Questions go unanswered
 
Everything was challenged
What we thought we knew
Upside down is normal
In this new cosmic view
 
Verily a villain
Sauntered into town
Surveyed all the landscape
And threw his money down
 
He’s vain and he’s disdainful
A menacing, mean man
Exacts his retribution
Deploys his payback plan
 
Feel his fairy fury
His vengeance knows no bounds
He’s nasty, cool and caustic
And loves his stolen crown
 
Wounded in the battle
We must survive the night
Live to fight tomorrow
And step into the light
 
Desolation angels
Bleeding from our gashes
Ignore the dark temptations
And rise up from the ashes
 
Integrity is doing
Things we know are right
Humility sustains us
Defines our inner might
 
Depression is a demon
We cannot let take hold
Crazy thoughts engulf us
We shiver in the cold
 
Jagged little pillbox
Promise falsely spoken
Beckons like a piper
When your whole world is broken


BUSTLE
The bustle’s in your hedgerow
A spring clean for the June queen
Their castles made of playdough
Began in 1619
 
The superficial day glow
They added to the ice cream
Was shot out from a longbow
And traveled through the slipstream
 
My random redneck one-offs
Your platitudes and clichés
Are imitation knockoffs
Of psychedelic forays
 
The 90’s TV spinoffs
Derived from flunky essays
Were drunken master rip-offs
Of outrage in the hallways
 
Rarely are there reasons
For angry conversations
Changing of the seasons
Bring doctor consultations
 
Puncturing the lesions
Your painful new sensation
Were written in Ephesians
Revived in Revelation
 
Manipulating playoffs
Then betting on the outcome
Collecting on the payoffs
While telling them “you’re welcome”
 
Generating chaos
For streaming of an income
Alcoholic top-offs
It’s flotsam and it’s jetsam
 
Still the seekers wander
Seduced within their quest
Their fortunes lead to squander
They’ll say they did their best
 
Calculated plunder
Creates this pained unrest
Revolt is put asunder
And slaves are laid to rest
CAGE
Clocks keep ticking
World keeps turning
There are three types
Of spiritual learning
First comes struggle
Accomplishment
Living with purpose
Is heaven sent
Phases of life
Made to reveal
The reason for pain
For all wounds heal
Forgive, forget
Integrity
Re imagine
Life’s novelty
Children’s eyes
See new each day
Approach each thing
As if at play
No overthink
And no regret
The hurt they feel
They soon forget
Next thing’s here
And they engage
Naïveté
Unlocks the cage
COSMIC EGG
There’s beauty and there’s brilliance
Encoded in malfeasance
Cognitively dissonance
Life’s quintessential essence
Cratering Cretaceous is
Beauregard bodacious fizz
Lisp into loquacious his
Scorpio salacious quiz
Detoured by a dalliance
He wasted all his talents
When voltage finds its valence
Your life restores its balance
Megalomania malicious
Cornucopia capricious
Dynapenia pernicious
Promulgation delicious
Depleted of his patience
He wrote an awkward sentence
Even though it made no sense
He shared it with the audience
Cephalopod cuttlefish
Nasty, short and brutalist
Promise that you won’t resist
Make a mark and feel some bliss
Reborn with astral access
Escaped the blackest recess
Conjoined to hackneyed darkness
The cosmic egg made progress
DAZZLE
Schniznit hit a little bit
Hip slit flit on pickle pit
 
Illuminated zeitgeist Greek
Thetan thick as greasy freak
 
Bum rush roll in Bangladesh
Broken jaw, a bloody mess
 
Sauerkrauten zie town flying
Tell me if there’s no denying
 
Photo flee to shotgun glee
Faking fame quite happily
 
Flowers falling at her feet
Ragnarok on Cherry Street
 
Zany zoo in Zanzibar
Baby you can drive my car
 
Reminisce of this and that
Forever’s where your life is at
 
Broken spokes on my go cart
Splatter spray is color art
 
Randomizing energy
Stirs the soul and sets you free
 
Never wonder where you are
Always near, it’s never far
 
Waiting for a truth to come
Is pain and angst for everyone
 
Question not the truth at hand
Let it go, to understand
 
Open up your eyes and see
All things as they’re meant to be
