A selection of poems, third in a trilogy, detailing events and observations collected throughout her life. She is interested in portraying the places she has lived and visited. About the Author

SENSE OF PLACE

UP HERE THE WIND BLOWS

Up here the wind blows
Scything through Sycamores
Bending hawthorn hedges
Ravaging blossoms.

Up here the rain falls
Enfolding us in thick cloud
Grasses smell sweet with saturation
The garden drips.

Up here the sun shines
Lighting the earth in vivid colours
Grey clouds morph into misty mountains
In the damp air.
Up here the wind blows.
THE OLD HAFOD

They still come knocking
‘I used to live here a while ago’
The cottage hears and welcomes them in.
‘My uncle’s house it was then
He sat in the inglenook telling stories
Whilst the pigs snuffled in the next room
And chickens roosted under his bed.’

The tales this house could tell -
Three acres
