Foreword
Woman, you are like a tree with a hundred branches, sunk with fruits and flowers, and nests and songs”
Amira de la Rosa
Her day begins when not even the dawn has takes off his night shoes to receive the sunrise
On her wooden table, the same ritual is reproduced, over and over again, day by day, in her studio, a place where the charm dwells, in the city of Turbo, department of Antioquia.
A steaming cup of coffee seems to invoke the “muses and provoke the gods.
Phrases in a notebook, captivated by anxiety, rest on the mute table, an accomplice of laughter and sobs.
Her pen eager for her to bleed ink and tears… and with the free hands of a full soul, dancing on the nectar of papyrus with the grace of a hummingbird or the subtlety of a dragonfly.
Yamila Valenzuela Aguilar lends herself to draw the first lines of her next work.
It is not known whether in that enlightened role, in communion with her kind eyes late in the morning, as in an intimate conversation between friends or lovers, she describes her dreams or continues to daydream.
“Native Prisms - Romantic Songs”, is a collection of bilingual poems, conceived to transcends borders. An intercultural bridge that allows Latin American poetry to open paths and strengthen ties with new cultures.
It is a delicate, intelligent and sensitive collection of poems, cradled within the new Latin American poetry. The style proposed by the author is clear, explicit and emotional, allowing the reader to perceive different sensations
in each reading. A book to read and reread. It responds to the needs of a new society, the great community that has shaped the countries of Latin America and their integration into the world literary universe.
Yamila proposes us to travel through a universe of senses, colors, textures and sounds
For this, Yamila goes to the most intimate fiber of feelings, to the memory and to the ductility that
infers the relationship between ecstasy and the soul.
… “It is the red time of dreams
where the falls no longer exist
it will fly with the swallows
where love is rocking”...
Or maybe…
… “For you; that your words are of sun and reconciliation
of white scents where love expanded
of fresh rain that the pain calmed
of close encounter from heart to heart.
Yamila Valenzuela Aguilar's poetry was coined from her early childhood, in the bosom of a large family, under the literary tutelage of his brother Marino, who was a renowned journalist during the seventies, eighties and early nineties, murdered at the hands of the guerrillas in nineteen ninety-three. When Marino was absent from his office, a very young Yamila sneakily snoop at the writings that Marino left on the work table.
Fascinated by the excellence of the writing, she was inspired by the semantic and syntactic architecture of her brother's texts.
Victim of this violent time, her greatest achievement was overcoming pain and anguish, to become a great exponent of the letters of her country.
Although her poetry is contemporary, however, her text could be interpreted at any time, because no particular historical context is attached to it
Its timeless literary conformation places it in the frame where the reader wishes to accentuate their imagination. In this way, the author manages that her poems are identified in different environments, interpreted by the same reader, at different times in her life.
Yamila Valenzuela Aguilar, is a Colombian writer, absolutely committed to her culture and her land.
Thus it is explicitly authenticated in his poems, in which he repeatedly refers to his natural environment, rich in landscapes of jungle and sea, of cities and birds, of flowers and lands. Also to her people, in accordance with their experiences, making reference to her environment and its people, source of language and dialects, customs, anecdotes and stories, as a vital channel in its flow of letters.
According to its dynamic structure, the author stands out, making her particular style a great exponent of free and modern poetry. Likewise, in accordance with her literary versatility, her ductility and her passion for the profiles invoked in world literary contexts, it has adapted to the structural parameters of the lyric, such as rhyme, metric or pre-established classical formats within the context of the global poetry. The sound complexion, musicality and rhythm of her poems, introduce the reader into a homogeneous stream in the context of reading, achieving fluidity and dynamism. Also heterogeneous, many times, in the emotional convergence of the interpretation of his verses.
It remains then to enjoy “Prismas Nativos – Cantares románticos””, an oasis of crystalline water, a breath of fresh air in the vertiginous times.
Etanislao Jano.
