THE SURPRISE

“John birthday is coming up in the next few weeks, I was thinking about giving him a surprise party”. Sarah says to her friend Carla.
“I think he will like it or at most be surprise”. Carla responds.
“Okay, good, I will need your help making the arrangements, and I will need to get Bob involved at some point to get him to make sure John is delivered to the party. First I will have to find a location that can hold at least one hundred plus people”. Sarah continues.
“How about the International Hotel ballroom, you say John is always talking about how he and Bob entertain clients there almost every week. It is a nice hotel, according to the rating it is a five-star hotel”. Carla added.
Sarah decides to do her research, after viewing the ballroom on the hotel web site, Sarah decided she will visit the hotel to see if the room is large enough for her needs and what party favors the hotel will offer and how much the cost.
Sarah and Carla make plans to meet at the hotel the following Monday at one o’clock.
On Monday Carla arrive early, she is setting in the lounge bar waiting for Sarah, when to her surprise she sees John through the tinted glass windows. She panics with the thought of her being discovered there. She moves to another table located across the room. She places a call to Sarah cell phone, she never answers. . Carla leaves Sarah a voice message “John is in the hotel”.
To Carla surprise John never enters the lounge.
Soon the door swings open in walk Sarah, looking around for Carla. Carla waves beckoning Sarah to move in a hurry, “did you get my message”? She asks.
“No, my battery is dead again”, Sarah answers.
“Come over here quick, John is in the hotel”. Carla says pulling her down by the hand.
“Where, where is he”? Sarah says as she bends down while she scans the room.
“He is somewhere, here in the hotel, I saw him heading towards the reservation desk”. Carla answers.
“Are you sure? He told me he had meetings all day in the office. He told me not to call him. He will call me when he finishes”. Sarah quickly explains.
“I know John when I see him”. She answers.
“Okay, okay, just clam down; I will just say we are having drinks if he sees us”. Sarah says reaching for a glass of water that is on the table.
As the ladies meet with the party planner, Carla is standing near the entrance of the ballroom; she sees John and Bob passing the door.
Sarah is distracted talking with the party planner who name is Lynn. She never sees John and Bob pass.
Carla excuses herself claiming to go to the ladies’ room which is located outside of the ballroom down the hall.
John and Bob never notice her just yards behind them. As the two men crest the corner of the hallway, Bob pull John into him and they kiss looked at each other and laughed then continue walking.
Carla reaches for the wall for support. Without thinking she says “hell no”! She rushes to the ladies’ room. She stars into the mirror her hand on her face mimicking the little boy on the movie Home Alone .
Did I just see what I am thinking, she thinks? Her mind is racing.
Carla, John and Bob attended the same high school. Her mind retro on how close John and Bob were then. How the both of them went off to the same college together and how they were roommates before Bob left the city due to a misunderstanding that divided them three years ago.
During that time Carla introduce John to her friend Sarah.
The thought of John and Bob being gay never crossed her mind. The two men appeared very macho and athletic. She recalls how glad John was when Bob moved back to town.
